LOL! I don't give a fuck. Not my country, state nor history. Couldn't care less if it stands or not. I do care about the racist governor posturing and the liberals sucking his cock while suffering from amnesia. You either abhor racism or you don't. What was his nickname, btw? Anyone?

Every monument or statue or building built before the the 1860's should be taken down. The Pyramids, the Roman coliseum, every old church in Europe, among others. They should all be taken down and destroyed because slaves were used in building them.

George Washington was a slave owner so I guess everything associated with him must be changed or destroyed.

The old churches in Europe were built with hired labour, not slaves. Slavery was abolished pretty early in western Europe.

If the right is willing to take down the Lee statue, then the least the left can do is to take down all the statues of Osama Bin laden that they have put up in public places using government funds.

It's an interesting point, but I don't think we should celebrate a rebel General who led a terrible bloody war against the Union for the main purpose of preserving slavery.

The more that I learned about how the confederate statues and resurrection of the flag coincided with Jim Crow the more repugnant I found them. Southern historians and leaders also spent many decades trying to whitewash (no pun intended-okay maybe a little) the underlying cause of the Civil War.

The point is, laws can be passed to make it happen. And it should happen.
I think we could do it here in Canada. I’m not sure about the US, though...I don’t think it would survive a First Amendment challenge?

It's the perfect time to take them down. Support is at its highest.

I'd like to see them taken down in the middle of the night without any advance notice.

That way they don't end up with another Charlotesville situation.
Wow...I never agree with you about anything...LOL. But yes, I completely agree.

I don't think they can ban a flag. You can fly a nazi flag on private property if you want to. It's freedom of speech although I know the left wingers would like to censor everything they don't agree with. I don't have a problem with the statue being taken down.
Always bitching the the left censors just because you don't like what their free speech says.

You are right that under US law, the nazi flag isn't illegal but maybe we should condemn people who fly the rebel flag the same way we would with the swastika.

I have no issue with statues of Lee or other confederate leaders, they should just be in museums and not public parks.

To the people in that area, Robert E Lee didn't represent slavery. He represented the courage and sacrifice shown by their ancestors in fighting for a lost cause.....
The lost cause of slavery. The confederates were very clear about why they wanted to secede.

I am not even sure putting them in a museum is a good idea. IMHO they are likely to become publicly funded gathering places for white nationalists.

I think they should just be destroyed...or maybe smelted down and recast into a BLM statue?

Sorry but history has it's place. How are people going to learn about the war for slavery when it is hidden away. Germany is very active in condemning their own actions under the Nazis and they don't do it by hiding their nazi past.

If white supremacists want to fund society by repeatedly buying tickets for a museum then let them. They're not going away so them paying go through a display that condemns the Confederacy is okay with me.
