Sigh....
The murder of George Floyd is a tragedy. Worse still was the murder of Treyvon Martin and Ahmaud Arbery. I completely understand why black Americans are outraged, especially in the case of Martin where a jury acquitted his killer for some absolute bullshit rationale of "standing your ground" and ergo it's ok to pick a fight with an unarmed kid just walking down the street and then shooting him. I can't fathom that.
In the case of Floyd and Arbery, the killers have been charged. From what I've seen and what I know, it is my ardent hope that they be found guilty and be sentenced to the maximum by law. In the case of Floyd I understand that the 4 cops involved have all been fired (rightfully) from the job. (Unlike Toronto where Forcillo was suspended with pay upon him murdering Sammy Yatim. Imagine how that would have gone over in Minnesota with the 4 cops in question.). There is the rule of law and it will take time. It's really unfortunate that some people either don't understand that, or agree with that and have chosen to burn down their cities. Again, I understand the frustration, but it's not right. Protest yes, protest as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr would have done and would be proud to see, but don't take up violence and set things on fire and loot stores. It's wrong and it needs to stop.
