Exactly 100%

The moment twitter decided to choose sides, or skew someone else’s points of view or opinions is when they undermined freedom of speech.
So why aren't you on Gab? Twitter has had terms of service from the start and they have enforced them unevenly from the start.

I haven’t seen the bill and hopefully Trump is smart enough to actually protect freedom of speech properly. It will be a dagger straight through the left heart if he actually does this properly to protect freedom of speech for all.
You don't live in the real world, do you?

There is no bill. It is an executive order. It is quite short you can read it for yourself.

As you can see, it is largely bullshit that does nothing for free speech.

It would have been a perfect set up to expose their hypocrisy and turn them on their head while doing something good for humanity. I am curious to see how this will work. This is a huge bill and soo important to our freedom to express ourselves without the fear of being shunned or ridiculed or shamed by assholes like the left from Twitter who decided to pull the trigger on this and undermine their fundamental ideologies.
That's fantastic. I don't think I have ever seen someone admit that their "free speech" posturing is completely about not having people contradict them or shame them or talk back. You actually came out and said it is unfair for people to ridicule you while claiming to defend free speech. *Chef's kiss*

Damn. To just come out and say that the whole point is to suppress other people's free speech and their ability to criticize you, ridicule you, or make you feel bad.

Points for honesty, man.

I ask myself so much why the left operates on fear so much and am finally realizing it is a projection of their core ideologies. This is what happens when you play with fear. It will eat you from within until you become it that you fear . The beauty of this is remarkable to see it actually happening. Life imitating art. A huge win to open people’s eyes to what’s actually happening with bullshit ideologies especially the ones that operate through fear and try to use it to bring their opponents down.
You live in a world of projection. It's fascinating.

They function as the de facto public square in a democratic society, so they do have a moral obligation to safeguard free speech.
In fact, they have no such obligation. They are a corporation and as such are responsible to their shareholders.

So you feel they should be nationalized or regulated like a utility?

Biden also supports killing 230, so that social media become responsible for trolls on their boards.

Why not? Like a utility they perform a vital function in our democracy. But the regulation should have the aim of protecting free speech, one of the most important things that keep us from being like Communist China.

It may be time to place them under FCC/CRTC rules.

News corporations are now using them as a platform to disseminate news. How is that different than a cable company at this point?

New rules will need to be designed to seperate individual citizens from corporate entities. But it's doable.

Your dear leader has no morals.
Twitter is emulating his lead.
You leftists cannot compete in a free environment. You prefer to hide under a rock like a bug or snake. You have a neurotic need to control others. Let competing ideas stand on their own without extra help from social media providers.

Tax them by posts, make they pay royalties for content and change them to a subscription model.

I didn't realize nationalizing or regulating social media had such broad support.

This issue isn't really about "censorship" or "free speech."

In this case, the state isn't trying to prevent anyone from having the right to express himself/herself. Rather, it is about the actions of a private company.

Twitter has every right to police its site as it wishes. Unfortunately, it has benefited from government protection from libel suits on the basis that it supposedly doesn't police its content.

Twitter can't have it both ways.

If it wants to "fact check" and remove opinions its editors don't support, that's fine. But in that case, it should be subject to the same libel laws as other content creators.

Like it or not, Trump is right on that point.

Private company = their rules.
Don't like it, start your own social media platform.

I could see a world where people with racist ideas are allowed to post them, only with verified user names including your actual image. See how brave you guys are when you can't hide behind anonymous handles.

No one would want to do that with crazy Muslims running around, but a free society requires free speech.
