Is there more to what they are telling the people? https://www.cp24.com/news/half-of-c...iding-something-about-covid-19-poll-1.4954627

50% of Canadians arent buying into the covid pandemic. I dont blame them.

The experts flip flop daily on how to protect ourselves and the rules are different for some people.

Did you see mom on mothers day like Doug Fords daughters did?

Did you got to Trinity Park like John Tory did and lower your mask to talk to people NOT in YOUR household and mingle around 10000 people?

They are saying that they believe the government is not telling everything they know.

And the same article says there are high levels of satisfaction with the actions the government is taking.

The most recent survey from Leger and the Association for Canadian Studies found 50 per cent of respondents felt governments were deliberately withholding information about the pandemic of the novel coronavirus, which has killed thousands and ground the economy to a halt.

....

The poll also asked respondents about their satisfaction with the measures governments were putting in place to fight COVID-19. Sixty-eight per cent said they were satisfied with what their local government is doing, 74 per cent with the federal government's actions and 78 per cent with their provincial government.

I certainly don't buy into the hysteria. The numbers speak for themselves.

That they do. If you are elderly in poor health living in a long term care facility the outcome is not great. For a vast majority of the population you have little to fear. The poll numbers mean very little.

Below are the numbers for Ontario as of May 22

Deaths reported in ages: 19 and under: 0 deaths
Deaths reported in ages: 20-39: 8 death (0.4%)
Deaths reported in ages: 40-59: 82 deaths (4.0%)
Deaths reported in ages: 60-79: 465 deaths (22.7%)
Deaths reported in ages: 80 and over: 1,428 deaths (72.9%)

Total: 2,048 deaths. 1,495 of the deaths are those living in LTCH's (73.0%).

Total # of Positive Cases: 25,040
Total # of Resolved Cases: 19,146 (76.5%)
# of deaths: 2,048 (8.2%)
Total # of Known Open Cases: 3,846 (15.4%)

Population of Ontario: 14,570,000
Percentage of Population known to have been infected by the virus: 0.171%. I imagine the true percentage is higher but until we have an accurate antibody test we will never know.

It's lack of reading comprehension and wanting to believe what they want. It's hilarious actually.

Which part of the poll are you refering too?
I wasn't. Every report about a poll is the interpretation of the report's writer (whether from cp24 or from hatchet) so I always try to look at the actual poll data. The most common interpretations are to either lump answers into a larger category or focusing on one question while ignoring the others.

If you want my comments about this specific poll, I find the first question flawed as it only gives too options and nothing in between (like 'releasing needed information' but not all details).

The other significant question IMO about the pace of relaxing measures. 53% of Canadians feel it's the right pace, 13% think we're opening too slow and 34% think we're opening too fast (50%, 11%, and 39% in Ontario).

What I find funny is how much more willing rural people are to believe the conspiracy theories. Don't know why but suburban Canadians are the least likely to believe them. Also of interest is way more of the US respondents said they wear a mask in public and more Americans than Canadian want them mandatory in public 65% to 51%.

p.s. You don't need to put in a real email address to download it.
