Do you pay for your news?

Do you subscribe to any news sites that you have to pay for?

Do any of you guys pay to subscribe to a newspaper, magazine, etc?

I just recently subscribed to The Atlantic: $50 for a 1 year’s subscription. So far I am pleased with the decision to purchase this subscription.

Otherwise, though, I pay for nothing. Many news sites are free to use; they make their money from selling advertising. Others such as the Toronto Star and NY Times allow 5 free articles per month. Etc, etc...I’ve approached my news consumption just like my porn use- ie only a sucker pays for it.

However, perhaps other sites are worth paying for? I’m thinking about the NY Times.

Anyway...what do you guys do when it comes to deciding whether to pay for a news subscription?

Not worth paying for the NYTimes. They have the rate good investigative piece bit you have a handful of free articles per month. The rest of their stuff isn't worth it and their stories get reported on by other papers so you will have a sense of what is worth your time.
