I don't think it's political in the way that you just expressed it to be. I think that people of all political backgrounds find the lock down measures as a bandaid that won't stop the bleeding. You might get the impression that this belief is tied to left/right ideology if you watch FOX but it's not. Plenty of people on the left, right, and middle disagree with the lock downs.
You made an error but not to worry, I fixed it for you. You're welcome.

That's cute and all but my point is that there is no consensus about the validity of the lockdowns based on political affiliation.

Viewing reactions to the lockdowns thru the prism of two political camps is troubling.

I have seen so many utter morons in the past week who have no clue how to use a mask and often are more likely infecting their families due to plain stupidity

And what is up with idiots who are wearing protective gear while driving their cars???
Even if you actually drank the kool aid and believe non medical masks / gloves are doing anything at all, if you dont swap out your used shit after you shop then all you are doing is carrying virus into your car and later to your home
Idjits seriously

And btw the Covid virus is too small to be stopped by a non medical mask
Most of these fools are just giving themselves some foolish idea they are safe which makes them engage in even more foolishness

I don't understand why it took so long. Wearing a mask seemed like a no brainer to me 2 months ago,

Also, why do they keep saying the mask does nothing to protect the wearer? They keep saying a mask keeps your shit from infecting other people, but it does nothing to stop other people's shit from infecting you.
The mask can not prevent spread of Covid
Covid virus is too small and will go through the holes in your mask

You require a medical mask (N95 I think was name) to actually prevent spread

The paper masks / scarfs / crap people are wearing is basically to prevent wide spread (eg you sneeze / cough, more drops get flung out. The theory - totally unproven - is that by restricting this it may slow spread)
But if you wear a mask and breath right beside someone else you WILL get them sick

Thats why its dumb, because most people dont understand and think the mask is armour which makes them invulnerable
Hence no more social distancing and more spread

Old people are a serious drain on economy you realize?
Even without covid
Elder care creates jobs too. The " snowbird" effect is a big economic driver in places like Florida and Arizona and a cash co in Vegas. So is seniors tourism and private medical care. In countries with state funded health care like Canada then senior care is insanely expensive for the government but an essential service and part of life if an individual lives long enough.

Again you understand what is happening here
They drain our local economy and spend the money in another country
Its a financial sinkhole

Makes you wonder why said snowbirds refuse to live in places like Florida and Arizona (hint because they are hell holes, there are far better places to retire)

So should we be happy and rejoice the virus is culling them off?

Even before the plague, I was concerned about the instruments used by my barber. I doubt he sterilizes each instrument after each client. Of course, he never wore a mask or gloves (like my dentist).

Your barber is like an MPA in that way. They don't sterilize their "instruments," either.

To everything there is a season.....the seniors made their contribution and then some and to question whether they should get stellar healthcare towards enjoying their senior years in dignity and comfort is beyond abominable and asinine. Idle able bodied younger folks on social assistance are more of a drain on the coffers than seniors.

Canada is graying and seniors vote. Most of us will be seniors too someday.

Getting back to masks. Government officials should stop saying that masks offers absolutely no protection to the wearer. Saying such nonsense is a disincentive for some people to wear masks.

They've also spent their long lives contributing to this country's economy and tax base but that won't stop the 'respect for taxpayers' bunch from saying they're a drain.

I think socialism should be killed off
Junk like CPP, CERB, EI, etc

WORK OR DIE

People sucking the life out of our economy makes it harder for those of us with jobs

Yet you will be first in line to collect any benefit available if you lose your salesman job or would you prove me wrong, do what you profess, and end it all?

Haven't been wearing masks for the flu.
It is likely to become much more common, though. Now that people have masks, wearing them in flu season will become more the social norm. And that probably will cut down the severity of flu season as well.

There seems to be an inherent reluctance to wear masks in public. Government should make it mandatory, just like in those countries most successful against covid.

I agree it should be mandatory and anyone not wearing one not allowed into any public venues.

Why would I "lose my job"?
Self employed
I barely worked any hours before Covid either
I let others do my work for me

And no I never applied for CERB lol
I am a PC voter not a communist
