The only sport where I think cheating is a big deal is in the world of golf. Those guys all play by a code of honour and the Rules of Golf are a sacred thing that they all believe in.

That’s why it shows how much of a douchebag that Donald Trump is for cheating at golf- he plays at a high level where cheating is not tolerated...and he cheats all the time.

Was it cheating when Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita put giant curves in their hockey sticks? No...Of course not. They were innovators of the game...until the league decided to put a limit on the stick curve...and then that was a rule. Things just evolve.
Not for corked bats.

As I said before, corking a bat unto itself is illegal but not a huge deal. I Rose's case the betting was, and still is, a huuuge deal. The bat corking is just another example of his poor character in conjunction with his betting and then denying the betting. He's a sleazebag, through and through.

I know he doesn’t pass the “morality” test that MLB has for the Hall of Fame but I disagree with that rule. Pete Rose is a Hall or Fame player...put him in before he passes away. I believe MLB has made it’s point. Perhaps Pete doesn’t deserve it and perhaps it’s not fair to other players but I think bringing Pete back into the MLB fold is the right thing to do and they should just do it.
Every year at spring training an official from the commissioners office addresses the players about amongst other things gambling on baseball.

So Rose has zero case here. Only someone with a similar moral compass would side with Rose.

Why are you so sensitive?

And you should know human nature well enough that if somebody knows that they can get under your skin by saying or doing something, you are pretty much encouraging them to keep doing it every time you complain about it. And it reinforces the tDS stereotype of not being able to deal with any criticism of the almighty, infallible cult leader.

Maybe it's time to start letting it pass. It's not a good look.

Sorry. Gotta totally disagree with your sentiment. Letting him in while he's alive reinforces in his mind that the gambling wasn't so bad. Because he could hit a baseball, means that he could do whatever he wanted and that he was right to never show contrition.

Let him go to his grave regretting, not only the betting, but that he kept lying over and over and over again. The time for remorse has long since passed.

3 minute clip of Jim Gray discussing his interview with Rose.
