i just got my $2000 emergency income
Why it's a hoax, isn't it? You can keep working. Grocery stores and essential services are looking for brave folks who are not afraid to work in this minor cold and flu pandemic. LOL sorry, I couldn't resist.

I have a question regarding the length of payments? What if you are re-called back to work, or find another job, can you cancel it? Do you need to keep re-applying ?
You need to reapply every 4 weeks. You have to notify them that you returned or found work.

Seems to me they're handing out 2K a month on an honour system. No ROE, no proof of employment, no explanation how they are qualified.

There's going to be fraudulent applicants galore. And they're going to get the same dough as someone who pays their taxes and contributes to the EI system. Fuck, this government is lenient.
People playing this system will be hunt down by the CRA. They will be subject to audit.

The birthday month is all BS, they don't want everybody to apply at the same time and crash the site. They are not going to reject applications because they did not follow their scheduled dates.
Right, so follow the rules and don't crash the site for others FFS!

Don't forget that they have a bunch of auditors who can't go out to tax payers right now. There will be followup and verification. My bet is that in a couple of months there will a lot of moaning and weeping about how nasty Canada Revenue Agency can be when the fraud cases are brought to court

It asked for mine. I went through service Canada and it directed me to the regular EI site.

Waiting for a code to be mailed to me.

Not sure why others are having different experiences.
My understanding is you applied for a CRA account number, if you go threw the process of doing it without an access number you will see it says on their site that for CERB they are waiving the requirement of the access code
My understanding is that you can go threw the process without your access number that will be mailed out to you 10 days after applying

They ask for your sin number and your year of birth. That is it. No tax info. They ask you confirm you understand that you are telling the truth about your income and your application. Two minutes on the phone. Nothing more. Just make sure your taxes are filed/will be filed by new cutoff.

I don't understand how you qualified for this unless you haven't done your taxes yet and are going to claim personal earnings of $5000.00 but you'll up needing a T4 to prove it.

You might be correct on this, but my bet is that they fully understand that there will be those who apply, but do not qualify. This was a quick fix and these types of programs always have a lot of slippage. The government knows this going in and they are willing to put up with this in order to get this program out the door quickly. Will there be serious audits after this is all over? Maybe, but the resources that would be required will impact more important and targeted audits, so they're more likely to take the easy way out and let it slide. Besides, if large numbers of citizens are being subjected to random audits it could become a political problem, in which case they'll do what liberals always do and burn the cash.

If I understand the qualifications on this, all you need to do is establish that you earned the requisite $5k in the last 12 months and declare that were were locked out of the workplace and earned no income during this isolation period. Anyone who is not deemed to be an essential worker likely qualifies.

If you are filing your 2019 tax return on time, you will receive an NOA (Notice of Assessment) once the tax return has been received and accepted by the CRA. Should you face an audit related to the CERB benefit that is paid out in 2020, you should have already received the NOA prior to being audited. The only people who might have an issue are those who failed to declare their income for the previous taxation year. Establishing that you earned the $5k in the previous 12 months should not be an issue...
