I don't think anyone can deny that Ford has been doing a great job and showing great leadership during this pandemic.

From today's press conference:

"I understand, he's thinking 'I need to take care of my own people' but we're connected," Ford said.

"In saying that, I'm not going to rely on President Trump, I'm not going to rely on any prime minister of any country ever again."

"Our manufacturing, we're gearing up and once they start, we're never going to stop them."

"We'll make sure we supply everyone in Canada, not just Ontario. We are the manufacturing engine in this country and we're going to step up."

Unlike our scripted PM in-hiding, who speaks nicely but says nothing, Ford is speaking from the heart without anyone having to tell him what to say.

I’m not a fan of Ford’s in any way...but I think he is doing an excellent job in handling this crisis.

I expected Ford would be an incompetent blustering dufus like Trump but Dougie seems to have risen to the occasion.

I like Ford in general. Only knock is he hasn't shut down the province yet.It needs to be done as painful as it will be.

I would like all the Provincial leaders be more forceful in the way the tell people to stay at home. Put more anger and authority behind your words. Don't sugar coat anything.

He really has done a tremendous job here and you can tell he has so much empathy for the people of Ontario.

He inherited a debt of 343 billion dollars with crippling interest and was forced to start scaling our services back.

As a result he has faced vicious and unwarranted attacks from the left. When in reality it was their governorship the put us in this situation to begin with.

In the face of a crisis you can see the true mettle of a man and Premiere Ford has risen up to the challenge.

He really has stepped up. His first year had a few missteps. Hopefully he's figured it out.

He and Justin are handling things well, but you unlike some who give Ford kudos for his performance thus far, you're unwilling to give the same to Justin.

PS: the cons are not doing well as it pertains to the schools/education. don't pretend like they are.

Listen full disclosure here. I really want to like Justin.

He's great when he's on script but as soon as he has to think for himself he's like a deer in the headlights.

He just meanders back to the same rehearsed responses again and again. And I get it that's what politicians do but he's in his own deflection league here. It's clear to most of us that Gerald Butts is the architect behind the facade here. I give it to the liberal party for pulling this off and getting someone without, any clear leadership attributes other than being the son of a former Prime minister elected. Absolute brilliance.

He's just fortunate that there isn't a Jim Acosta up here that will pin him down on his shortcomings. Instead he gets lobbed softballs for questions and then when he doesn't answer them he gets let off the hook.

What's up Ford keeping the developer's residential construction sites still operating?

We know that with the changes he has made to 1) LPAT 2) the development charges 3) the density 4) the Oak Ridges moraine, he has been writing blank cheques to developers at the expense of taxpayers.

Yes, he has stepped up, but let's not forget the damage he has already done.

He was/is Premier anti-science, anti-health, anti-education, anti-environment, anti-worker, anti-social services, anti-facts.

Do you really believe that once the pandemic crisis is over, he is all of sudden going still be a leader for ALL Ontarians?

LOL...Of course not. He will go back to being an idiot like he’s always been.

By some miracle, though, at this moment in time he is not fucking up. I am thankful for whatever small blessings I can find these days.

Ford has stuck to the full script. Yes, we should not criticize him at this time, as it is a time of a huge crisis. Unlike the right wingers that have nothing but abusive lingo for the PM for whatever reason!!

Especially, as we are seeing both Ford and Trudeau working well to try and get a hold on this Pandemic. Ontario still have a lot of catchup to do on the testing, unlike Quebec and BC that are ahead of the game. By the way all the Premiers and Trudeau have a very good favourability rating with respect to tackling this Pandemic!!

GTA & Thereabouts...
My friends, he's a horrible public speaker, but Doug Ford at least rings more true compared to Trudeau. Excellent press conference today. Had qualified and honest people who could explain what's what before he dropped the news.

Canada is becoming helpless. I like how he stood up for industry and explained that we should be able to make our own breakfast rather than have to buy it from someone else.

I hated Ford like I hate Trump, but Doug has pulled a 180 on the covid file and departed from the Trump playbook for idiots. He may have reversed his fortunes with his compassion and serious concern for public health.

Is getting involved in helping people "sticking to the full script"? Or is hiding and only to emerge smiling and reading what was prepared for you sticking to a script?

Trudeau talks a good game but when push comes to shove, actions speak louder than words (see article). I do however give kudos to whoever in JT's staff is helping him manage through all of this.

The Ontario premier was seen donning a face mask as workers from Dental Brands in Markham, Ont. loaded boxes of masks onto his truck

Similarly, I give kudos to whoever prepared Ford's script. It is tough times and even in the same link:

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced in his Tuesday presser that government has reached agreements with three Canadian companies to make medical supplies such as respirators, surgical masks and other diagnostic materials. The government has also signed letters of intent with five other countries to mobilize goods needed by healthcare professionals.

I give Ford credit for realizing this isn't the time for petty party politics and instead listening to experts, something that many posters here on both sides can't figure out.

I'm not a fan of Ford but I prefer him over Scheer (or any of those western cry babies) if he should become a federal PC leader. But like how he is handling this crisis and the way he blasted Trump. He has put aside his political differences and working all levels of government in Canada. Ford's business connections leading the way for other companies to adapt and make PPE.
