We may never know if we over-reacted and did too much.
But we sure as hell will know if we under-reacted and didn't do enough.

Today's US stats:
+18.45% in new cases
+18.56% in deaths
Deaths went from 1,100+ to 1,500+ today SO FAR. That's about 40% and the day is far from over.

Maybe wait until it's over before you quote numbers.
I dont think OTB, DO and the other comprehend the concept of planning today for what is likely coming tomorrow. The chosen one typically does not act until he has no choice but to act and then takes credit for always having known that it was necessary to act. Remember he always new it would become a pandemic. A pattern repeated time and again and mark my words it will happen here. sad.

A week or so ago it was "Look, there's only 10 dead, or 15 dead. Why overreact." Today it is 1,500. How many 10's of thousands or more will they be poopooing next week, or the week after.

BTW, you nailed trump's playbook.

I listen to Brix and Fauci when it comes to modelling the need for medical equipment and supplies. I listen to Trump for his vision of how the country will recover from the crisis. You seem not to understand who to listen to for each specific purpose.

If you're only trying to make the point that Trump isn't a very articulate speaker, point granted, but he is capable of being understood by those who are interested in doing so, and that includes most Americans. You might just be focussing on a trivial matter in the context of the overall management of the crisis.
Wait a minute. Now you have to change your story. Trump just demanded GM produce a lot of ventilators.

I'm surprised by Trump's approval rating.

"19 hours ago - On Trump's handling of the pandemic, Gallup found 60% of American adults approve. A Fox News poll out Thursday found it lower, at 51%."

Questioning New York's estimates seems reasonable in light of the data to date, and significant revisions to projections from the Imperial College based on the measures that have been implemented.
What purpose does the constant questioning have (other than to pump up your Trump idolization)? Sorry but this shouldn't be a political issue.

Fact is with test availability so limited, there is no way to truly know the actual numbers of infected. All we can do is look at data from other jurisdictions such as Italy and make projections. The fact that NYC is significantly larger (and I believe far denser) than Milan makes it seem important to get them the aid they request. Worst case is any extra ventilators can be sent on to where they are needed.

Tell that to the stable genius who continually says he "has a feeling" or "he has a hunch". Is that yiour idea of science or data based. ...
I think the medical staff behind the scenes are quite competent. Their only problem is when Trump opens his mouth.

The pandemic is now America wide, Birmingham and New Orleans are getting smashed.

America's Greatest President cut funding to the CDC by 15% in 2018. Dr. Brix and Fauci have to fawn to his magnificence or get fired. Economic Genius Larry Kudlow says those that believe they may be infected should contact their insurance provider.

America's infection rate has surpassed both the PRC and Italy - Medicare for all is Stalinism!

Trump to Mike Pence: 'Don't call the woman in Michigan,' aka Gov. Gretchen Whitmer
Translation: Even though she's calling to get help for the people of her state...Fuck 'em. Fuck 'em all because she wasn't nice to me.

Once again, it shows how foolish his supporters who believe that he cares about the people are. Love is blind.

On Friday the markets reflected the creeping catastrophe that is Donald Jehovah Trump.

We have to be thank for small mercies, there has been no significant volcanic activity during the contagion. It would have made matters much worse.

The only pragmatic solution is to quarantine the entire state of New York, California, Washington State and Oregon until at least December 1, 2020. No one should be allowed to escape. That is how China beat the virus --- by quarantining an entire province of 400mm people.

Now Trump has done a 180 degrees. When is he going to be consistent in handling this Pandemic. Lives are at stake!!

Trump drops idea of coronavirus lockdowns:

US president decides against quarantine for New York, New Jersey and Connecticut as virus toll in US passes 2,000:

US President Donald Trump has backed away from imposing a quarantine in the New York area, instead directing that a "strong travel advisory" be issued for the area.

The announcement on Twitter came late on Saturday as criticism grew over Trump's earlier call to prohibit travel in and out of virus hotspots in the states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut:

Lessons from Italy.

1) At first they denied there was a problem.

2) Then they imposed a "lockdown" only in Northern Italy but it was very porous and not enforced with armed guards and some/many Northern Italians "escaped".

3) Too late they lockdowned the entire country.
