Cardi B: Worst of coronavirus 'could've been prevented'

Cardi B is slamming celebrities for sowing confusion about the coronavirus, and blasting the government for not curbing the spread of the pandemic that she says "could've been prevented."
In a video posted Tuesday on Instagram, the New York-born rapper said she has a message for entertainers about the "confusion that the general public" has regarding the coronavirus.
"[President Trump] is getting on a podium saying, 'Hey, listen: if you do not have any symptoms of the coronavirus — coughing, fever and whatsoever, etc. etc. — do not get tested because we don't have enough testings to test everybody," Cardi B, who was born Belcalis Almánzar, told her 61 million followers.
"But if a celebrity is saying, 'Hey, listen, I don't have no symptoms, I'm feeling good, I feel healthy, I don't feel like nothing but I went and got tested and I'm positive for the coronavirus. That causes confusion," said Cardi B, sporting a medical face mask.
The outspoken 27-year-old performer — a frequent critic of Trump — said the average American without any coronavirus symptoms would question whether they should get tested. She also took issue with the speed of coronavirus test results for the non-famous.
"The general public, people that work regular jobs, the middle class, people that get regular paychecks, the poor or whatever the crap, they're not getting treated like the high — the ones that are up here, the celebrities and everything. They're not getting their f---ing coronavirus results the next day. The coronavirus is very much real," Cardi B said.
Despite initial shortages in coronavirus testing kits across the country, several celebrities and sports stars — including Bravo's Andy Cohen, singer Jackson Browne and multiple NBA players, among others — announced in recent weeks that they had tested positive for the potentially deadly illness.
Earlier this month, Trump said he didn't agree that professional athletes and wealthy people should get preferential access to coronavirus testing, while acknowledging "perhaps that’s been the story of life."
In her Instagram video, Cardi B also knocked the protocol for individuals who test positive for the coronavirus.
Saying people who have the coronavirus but don't need to be hospitalized are sent home and told to self-quarantine, the Grammy Award-winner exclaimed into the camera: "What do they think they're sending people home to? Not everybody have the luxury to go in their f---ing bedroom and to go in a big-ass house and get away from people."
"A lot of people live in small-ass apartments with multiple people," she continued. "So it's like if you're sending me home and I have the corona-f---ing-virus I'm most likely going to give it to my spouse, my kids, anybody that's around me."
The "I Like It" rapper — a fervent supporter of 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) — also said the government should pay all health care costs for Americans dealing with the coronavirus.
"I feel like the government should take that shit ... and not charge people for it, because at the end of the day this shit could've been prevented when they found out about this shit a couple of months ago and the shit it was doing in China," Cardi B said.
"Some people don't even have enough money to f---ing afford health care," she added.
