They don't care about the money. They just want the spirits of people around the world lifted by the games. Their reasons for going ahead are purely altruistic.

They should find a way to postpone somehow. The athletes and coaches no longer want it to go forward. Many countries are calling for plans to ramp down. Even the IOC membership is beginning to show cracks in it's usual unified and dogged determination to go ahead with the games. Most spectators falling quickly out of love with a games held in 2020.

This all comes down to money. The broadcasters and host country absolutely stand to take a bath if the games are cancelled or postponed.

Postpone a year is the only thing that makes sense both for the athletes and the host city.

Don't know how most athletes would be able to train in these conditions.

Postpone. Move it to next year! COVID-19 will be around for 6 months or more... We were born to be social animals!!!

There are huge amounts of Chinese tourists visiting Japan annually and large amounts of Chinese workers in Tokyo and Osaka these days. In fact the signs in the Tokyo train stations are often posted in Japanese, English and Simplified Chinese (not Kanji) now. There is also a good amount of medical tourism in Japan involving affluent Chinese who come to Japan for medical treatments including complex surgeries. The bottom line is Chinese tourism is extremely important to the Japanese economy at present and old war wounds are not affecting this trend.
