Trump 'strongly considering' full pardon for Flynn

BY JUSTINE COLEMAN

President Trump said Sunday that he is “strongly considering” a full pardon for his former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

“So now it is reported that, after destroying his life & the life of his wonderful family (and many others also), the FBI, working in conjunction with the Justice Department, has ‘lost’ the records of General Michael Flynn,” he tweeted.

“How convenient. I am strongly considering a Full Pardon!” he added.

Flynn pleaded guilty in December 2017 for lying to the FBI about his communications with the Russian ambassador.

He acted as a key witness in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. The special counsel recommended Flynn be sentenced between zero and six months because of his “substantial assistance” during the investigation.

Flynn unexpectedly fired his Covington & Burling lawyers in June of 2019, leading some to suggest he was setting up for a pardon from the president, who has praised his new lawyer.

There has also been speculation about Trump potentially pardoning associate Roger Stone who was sentenced to more than three years in prison for lying to Congress and witness tampering in the Russia investigation.

The president pardoned several individuals last month, including former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) after he had been convicted of federal corruption charges.

Seems like the right outcome to me. Process crimes resulting from politically tainted investigation.

Flynn's been angling for a pardon ever since he ditched his original lawyers and hired Powell.

There won't be any pardon until the Wuhan Virus is dealt with and the Durham report is completed in the summer.

Doesn't seem the kind of thing he would want to hide, though. He seems to really like making a big deal out of his pardons.

Flynn is of no consequence to the administration and, besides, he is facing, realistically, maybe 30 days to 3 months behind bars. On appeal, his sentence will be reversed without a doubt. There are just too many irregularities in his case. A pardon would be an easy way out for the prosecution, but I'm sure that the Trump's legal team is advising against it. The collapse of the Flynn's case is a serious blow to the collusion conspiracy theorists. Main thing is, the timing is wrong to do anything right now.

They'll have to debate whether Flynne had anything to do with the obstruction charges that got Trump impeached.
'Cuz impeached POTUS's can't pardon their henchmen.

Still getting the law wrong. Flynn wasn't impeached. At most, he was a potential witness in impeachment proceedings that no one thought was important enough to call. There is no constitutional impediment to a pardon.

Definitely should be pardoned by Trump. Being POTUS comes with many privileges.

Once a POTUS is impeached he can't pardon anyone linked to his acts.
Its in the constitution, farty boy.
