Just read that all casinos in Ontario will be shut down within the next 24 hours. No timeline for reopening.
Should be a good times for online gambling sites.

Considering how much dough casinos float to local municipalities, it will be interesting to see the longer term effect of this.

They could move online I would think. Let old ladies lose all their money on bullshit online slots instead of bullshit slots in a casino.

Most of the machines are video anyway.

It will be more than casinos shutting down very shortly. I’m expecting an announcement tomorrow for the province.
This week you’ll see broader sweeping closures. Expect malls, bars, offices, tourist attractions, and restaurants to close. The only restaurants that will remain open will be ones that offer takeout and delivery.

Municipalities don’t have the authority to enact these closures. The edict must come from
the Province.

Money can be earned again when this is over. This will be like war time conditions. Everything on pause until it’s over.

Then life will get back to normal. People worried about the economy and the markets need to get with the program here. This is survival 101.

Money isn’t real. It’s made up pieces of paper that stops us from killing each other over food. Society is getting a much needed reboot.

There is one of two situations. If you are in the Ottawa, Toronto or Peel Regions, then no - they have been closed with the 'modified Stage 2' roll back in recent weeks.

If you are in a region outside the above 3, at least at the moment, casinos are open but very restricted. Book ahead for a 2 hour window, 50 customers max at one time, slot machines only (no table games). This is my understanding from 2-3 weeks ago. I have not been (I'm a table game player if I go) but you can do some searches for the specific casino you are considering, if it's not in Toronto/Peel/Ottawa region.

None of the large "Resort Casinos" will open until they are allowed more than 50 people (when you are built for 5500+ like Casino Rama) there is nothing but a fat loss in opening - even in regions where they are technically allowed to be open - example: Niagara, Windsor etc. When Toronto was in Stage 3 - just before the rollback a few small operations (Rama Gaming House on Kennedy Road was one) opened, with 2 hour limits, and only 50 allowed in at once. Once the rollback to Stage 2 (Modified) happened, they were forced to close again.

What? They never opened so why would roll back have anything to do with them???

Huh??? Where?
Places like Niagara still in Phase 3 and have never opened casinos
Are you just making up the limits etc? Or are you posting from somewhere like Winnipeg? What other casinos are NOT in Toronto/Peel/Ottawa region that are reasonable drives and have ever been open? (even the ones in GTA were never really open... Woodbine open date Sep 28 close date Oct 5... thats basically 1 single week open to public)

eg
Niagara

Orillia

I know all the Mohawk ones never reopened either but too many to list....
