Except that Trump stopped flights from China in JANUARY and no people travelling from Iran were admitted into America from that time, either while our Prime Minister was hopping around Africa bribing for the UN seat. Btw, China and Iran were THE early hot spots. We had infected people arrive here from Iran as late as last week. But, don't let that stop you, please continue: Orange man bad.
Again. Trump never stopped flights from China. They have continued unabated this whole time. Some airlines have decided to not fly to China, but you can book a China-US flight today just like you could on January 31. There are restrictions about letting people in, but no flights were ever banned.

He didn't touch Iran until late February/early March and then did the same thing - foreign nationals who have been in Iran recently aren't allowed in, but flights have not been banned.

I'm not arguing against saying Trump moved aggressively, it just irks me that people keep saying he "banned flights from China" when he didn't ever do that.

Too little, too late.
Grade F . A totally utterly a failure. Toronto or Vancouver or Montreal going be exactly like Northern Italy.
It will know soon in a couple of month from now.
I guess you would have preferred immediate border closure to all people and products and soldiers patrolling streets to enforce curfew.

I'll wait to judge their response when we see what actually happens.

There should be another choice in this poll. "Fuck Trump".

For our half wit friends infected with Trump derangement syndrome virus.
What has Trump done to you personally? You don't even know him and can't even vote against him. He has done nothing to affect you at all, an incel living in your Mom's basement with over 30,000 gripes on an escort site, where you have contributed nothing to the actual aim of this site, "Escort Reviews."
And this why Jordan Peterson calls them the radical pathological left.

For even in a thread about the Canadian government they can't help themselves and show their deranged obsession with all things that are Donald Trump.

What difference has the "ban" done on the flights from China. Just a political stance to please his base. Remember that he mentioned not so long ago that there were only ten cases and within a week or two there would be zero cases. The most stupid statement by any leader. Instead of getting the tests to at least Canada's standard he really screwed up and now the US are backtracking and still cannot match Canada's test Protocol that is in place. An example, take Ontario that has 13 million citizens and have performed close to 10,000 tests. Ohio with 10 million citizens have performed barely 200 tests. Yet they are estimating that 100,000 citizens have that virus. So for once let's talk about real substance rather than some gibberish about the flights from Iran that are mainly Canadian citizens returning to Canada who are being screened and asked to isolate themselves for at least 2 weeks!!

Trudeau is leading by example.
He self quarantined after contact and didn't panic.

Trump is out there spreading the disease personally, shaking hands, refusing tests and breaking every rule to try to slow it down.
Absolutely true. Even Ted Cruz agrees that Trump screwed up badly in the way in which he handled the crisis there:

But the only ones suffering from TDS (Trump Devotee Syndrome) are the lunatic right wingers. Trump is not our President and thank God for that!!

If someone paid $20,000 to get home, they’re stupid. They said quite clearly in the press conference that US Citizens and valid visa holders were going to be able to get home.

If this guy is in Paris, then he has a return ticket home unless he’s a complete moron. If the airlines shut down and you have a flight already booked they have to rebook you.

Fake news.

Containment by banning flights is at best a delaying tactic. There is very little evidence it would work to stop the virus. At best it buys time to prevent the cases from spiking. Right now, the Canadian situation does not look like it is spiking at an Italian level.
We have 200 cases almost all directly related to travel. Nothing wrong with buying time. Our government has done NOTHING. There is no screening. “Self quarantine if you feel like it” isn’t screening.

We are exactly on course to have a giant spike in cases. We’re doing nothing to prevent it, and in fact are helping it along.

People really need to get their heads out of their asses.

This is what really bothers me about the government.

This is a rich country. Yet, in a crisis such as this, they would not even give us citizens a N95 mask.

Think about that!

The government and the civil servants just do not give a damn about us, the people.

No free masks. That is all we need to know.

(the masks are ineffective in preventing the wearer from getting infected but is extremely effective in not allowing a contagious person to infect others, wearing a mask is a human right under these exceptional circumstances, but where the government, hello, what does anyone in the government think of such ideas, hello, hello, anyone home?)

All 3 levels of our government are incompetent when it comes to serious issues.

Look at important policy Federal government announced last week. It was making Conversion Therapy illegal in Canada.

Provincial Government is still trying to figure out our new license plates.

And municipal probably planing where to put more bike lanes and ban right turns on red light.

I'm glad I cancelled my trip to Torino, eight Serie A players have tested positive. Right, now it's time for some objectivity.

I'm no fan of Trudeau, he took President Obama's advice to heart. Barack told him to become the global goodwill ambassador for the benefit of all. That went down miserably in India, to Justin's credit he didn't back down when confronted by Hindu Nationalists. Which is not what Shiva Scheer did when he went to kiss Modi's ass.

All three levels of government were caught with their pants down in the face of a crisis. However its difficult to respond effectively when you don't know what the contagion is. It's now been identified by Sonybrooke Hospital doctors with the help of UofT Labs as SARS COVID-2. Before it was identified, virologists claimed that it would take 18 months to find an antidote, now that they know what it is, that length has been cut down to a year. If you're dissatisfied with Trudeau's response ask yourself this: would Peter McKay have done any better?

My worry is that the Bank of Canada over-reacted. They cut interest rates twice, the current recession we are in could linger for a number of years due to deflation. The unemployment rate will rise and Canadians will default on their debts.

N95 masks are useless unless you've got the virus, then its good at keeping you from spreading it.
In fact they tend to make the general public uncomfortable when they wear them, resulting in more adjustments and touching of their faces.

Government response has been chirping crickets. Knowing that this thing was coming, since January at least, you might think they would create an isolation hospital in each major center. Even for 100 beds. China built a 1000 bed isolation hospital in 20 days. Canada has, I'm sure plenty of empty buildings they could utilize for isolation wards. Fuck all done.

I am no great fan of Trudeau.
But if I had to choose which one would be the leader of my country, especially during a crisis like this then our Prime Minister would win hands down.

I can't help but feel frustrated over recent news of lockdowns happening throughout Ontario because CBC spent majority of January and February 2020 interviewing leading medical experts who all stated repeatedly that Canada was MORE than prepared for any outbreak. That Canada had thoroughly learned from the outbreak of SARS almost 20 years ago. And then you look at the news over the past week and realize just what kinda bs they've been shoveling.
