Hey gentleman I was thinking of hosting monthly poker parties....think the movie "Molly's game"...would host in a private condo and would set the starting buy in at $500-$1000.....would you attend? If this became a monthly thing would you buy a seat at the table for a certain amount of time? Etc...girls are more then welcome to play and attend as well but I thought what a unique idea to have private social gathering around something fun and lucrative! Give me feedback and tips and I will get the ball rolling! Have a happy Tuesday xoxo Elle Sparks

Sounds like a great idea until one of the following happens:

1) someone loses a lot and rats you out to LE, operating an illegal gaming house
2) someone sees the opportunity for quick $$$ and robs you as an inside job but you don't know who it is.
3) wrong people get wind and you have to pay
4) mechanics get involved and take the players who don't see it coming
Etc...

I used to play a lot of poker, cut back nowadays, but I've heard a lot of stories of things going bad from my poker buds. If your running a game you need to take precautions.

Yes I've read the book

I will only play against Strangers in casinos now. Having had to deal with a few bad issues at stags previously and not wanting the fight it's not worth it.

And all of the above applies as well.

Sorry Elle. But you are talking about minimum $5000 up to $20,000 with two tables on site at an illegal operation and you haven't it looks like even considered security.

Plus what is your take? And the added costs coming off the total pot? Is it tournament? Get up when you want?

You haven't thought this through. It can get bad really fast.

Back when the book and movie came out during the heyday of poker games a lot of people decided to try the Mollys Game routine with many having little planning, even those with lots of planning failed. I went to a few, most held in Vegas usually during a TV tournament as the losers dropped out and were looking for action mainly off strip in one of the mansions that held 24/7 gaming. These existed before and were well run, but after you couldn't tell and it got risky. The trusted private ones from before lasted and the others dried up. These still exist and cater to tournaments mainly with the locals mixed in and are on each day, the private casino games are easy to gain access if you have enough chips and know the floor manager.

I know a few tried here but that failed, there is still a big whale game held once a year and a very private monthly one that rotates but basically it's the smaller Woodbridge games that you get ear of.

I have looked into alot of these things and security was the first thing I knew I had and could secure. The post was for a casual question if something was to be able to be put into play...meaning is it worth me going through with the planning...saying I haven't thought it through and assuming I haven't thought of any of those things is a little hyper emotional...was just merely seeing if there was interest in a organized friendly poker party. Sorry I got you so worked up! Geeeezzz

I love small stakes poker games, but they have to be done with people who know each other. And even then, you'll have an occasional flare ups. With strangers, you'll have to pay a couple of big guys to act as coolers, screen for weapons, etc. I have been to tons of private poker games- dated a nice Greek girl for a time and Greeks are degenerate poker players- and it's a lot of fun. What you're looking for is a small pool of players who will sit down on semi regular basis, people you know pretty well- pre screened by occupation(for example) to avoid thugs- just like prescreening clients. Definitely, you shouldn't be collecting them on this or any other forum, but among your existing clients. Why johns? Their need for anonymity will keep things peaceful and the connection to an escort will keep it quiet and under the radar- and that's what you need to keep the lawless and the law away.

I've hosted a few Oscar Madison level poker games at my place...with very young cheese and very old meat.

It can be fun at a low level among friends. High stakes however, that's a different ball game.

There are many types of players during a home game. However, their characters often lend themselves to normalized descriptions. For example, a few basic ones can be distinguished:
The quiet ones are calm, measured and try to follow the game, be attentive and try to understand as much information happening at the table as possible. They may keep silent or vividly describe both their thoughts and emotions.
2. Newcomers - they ask a lot of questions, can be too active and are often distracted, disturbing the atmosphere of the game
3. Pro - usually in a home game of 3 people or more, this type of player is the organizer. If he acts logically, he tries to keep the game under his wing and, if necessary, resolve disputes.
4. Marginalists - people who constantly try to aggravate, hurt, humiliate or ambiguously insult someone. If such people occupy a dominant social position in the company of players, the game tends to go downhill.
To avoid this, I prefer to play online - https://yummyspins.com/review/spin-palace-casino/. Good luck to you!

Hey Elle, that sounds like a really cool idea to host monthly poker parties! It definitely gives off a "Molly's Game" vibe and I think it would be a lot of fun to gather around a table with friends and play some poker.

Small room + gambling + strangers....sounds like a recipe for disaster...remember that you will be solely responsible for everybody's safety and that's not something you can overlook....why not do a monthly orgy instead?
