He should have live streamed his face as he plummeted to earth.
I like to imagine that once he hit the apex of his ascent, he hung in the air for a few seconds, looked directly at the camera, looked down, looked back, blinked a few times, then held up a sign saying “yikes” before plummeting back to earth.

Was the parachute meant to detach on take off?

Reminds me of the time Wile E and Sylvester tried to blow up a bridge.

You missed the bit where he frantically flaps his arms like a bird.....

I read more about this guy.

So stupid that he did not have the most basic understanding of engineering.

So stupid that he was a devout believer of many consipiracy theories.

And........ https://www.space.com/craigslist-water-heater-mad-rocket-launch.html

This "launch is about my personal desire to inspire my fellow Americans to help make this country great again," he said in a press statement, adding that he hopes his feat will garner an invitation to the White House for himself and his launch crew.

"Trump is the greatest president since there's been a president!" Hughes added in the same statement. "I intend to spread the word about MAGA with my homegrown, steam-powered, manned rocket. I am the homegrown Rocket Man."

Well, I feel less bad about making fun of him now.

It's funny how some of us got brainwashed into believing that's ok now, to treat others as us subhuman just because they support Trump. Not too long ago we would still have some respect and dignity for others, regardless of what they believed in. Today..."He likes Trump"... well fuck him then.

Oh stop with the martyrdom. I said nothing whatsoever about Trump. I feel less bad because he’s a crazy conspiracy theorist who was clearly exploiting the animosity towards Trump to generate attention/money for himself. You’re the one making this partisan.

Nah, I just wish there was a similar manly man type test to show their superior science for anti-vaxxers and climate change deniers.
Maybe the anti-vaxxers can all huddle together around a kid with measles and the climate change deniers can all move to Key West.
Though none of those are nearly so dramatic or cool as a steam powered rocket.
That was a very cool and incredibly stupid way to go.

You know that I'm right. This is just one silly example. It would be funny if he staged it all to get even more publicity for himself.
