Man allegedly assaults woman on TTC for wearing face mask

Toronto police are working to identify a man after an assault allegedly took place on board a TTC bus last week.

Police are investigating an incident that reportedly occurred on Friday, February 7, at about 2:30 pm, near Bloor Street East and Sherbourne Street.

According to law enforcement, a 24-year-old woman wearing a protective medical mask was on a TTC bus on route #75, when a man began insulting her for wearing it.

The woman reportedly took a picture of the man and he grabbed her, in an attempt to get her camera.

The man is described as being in his 40s, average height, and clean shaven with a medium build. He was wearing metal-framed glasses, a black winter coat with fur on the hood, blue jeans, and a black toque.

Police are appealing for witnesses, who were reportedly nearby, to contact investigators at 51 Division.

We don't know what the insults were, if it was because she is Asian then that is unacceptable. What if he was insulting her for wearing one because he thinks she is scaring other people or causing concern over nothing. We don't know. It's irresponsible of you to assume what his motives were just because he is a middle aged white male.

At no point have I defended the alleged assault. That is for the police & courts to sort out
The alleged victim was not identified as belong to any specific race. Charlemagne made that leap
He quite clearly also leap to his conclusion that because the picture showed a white middle aged man, he must therefore be a right wing racist
And now you drag white supremacist attacks & racist policies into the discussion.

You really think that article just had a picture of some random guy on the subway and that it wasn't the picture the woman who was assaulted took?
