Should Natives have the right to block Canadian railways ?

Should Natives or anyone else get away with this?

You are not alone. It seems that there is a big gap in the general understanding of the whole thing.

1. The Chiefs that have signed on are elected Chiefs of local Bands on formal Reserve's. Their "authority" relates to specific Reserves that were created through individual Treaties and the Indian Act.

2. The Hereditary Chiefs claim authority over a much larger area of B.C. that was never "ceded" to the Crown under the Royal Proclamation of 1763 as British Columbia was not settled by the British at the time of the Proclamation.

"the Royal Proclamation explicitly states that Aboriginal title has existed and continues to exist, and that all land would be considered Aboriginal land until ceded by treaty. "

Yes the Hereditary Chiefs claim authority and sovereignty over much of BC including Vancouver and also Toronto Islands and parts of Mississauga and indeed likely all of Canada. But they do not have an army or military means to back this up do they ? The First Nations communities in Canada are welfare states coddled by the Federal Government for the most part for better or worse. So what is your point and how is this relevant in 2020 ? The First Nations groups have found an effective leverage tool against an anemic minority federal government and are exploiting it. More emboldened protest are likely to arise from the current scene in the form of learned copy cat behaviour.

The signing authority seems unclear to me. Its kinda like your mother in law signed some papers selling your house for 50K, and the buys shows up claiming he has a deal.
It's more like the opposite. YOU signed some papers selling your house, but your mother-in-law showed up, blockaded the door and claimed some moral right to deny the sale.

In this case his policy is completely correct. We CANNOT use violence to resolve this. The RCMP need to back the fuck of these peoples land so the politicians can meet with them to negotiate.
Only if you want this kind of anarchy to proliferate.

The good thing about sovereign nation is that it not only can enter in agreement with other nations, but also exit them. There is no penalty for exiting (you may negotiate a new agreements if you want to). I guess, it is time for Canada to recognise that it is a sovereign country and exit from the agreement with FN and simply claim all the land it wants. If FN disagree, it is their problem.

Indigenous chief says some anti-pipeline protestors are getting paid

The President of the National Coalition of Chiefs, Dale Swampy has claimed that some anti-pipeline protestors are being paid by environmental activists groups.

I believe this 100 %

I will go as far to agree. W Buffet is spending cash up here to slow any talks of Pipelines.

In some situations like this one, it does. But you are perhaps more qualified for the parking ticket level complexity.
You know nothing about me yet you throw insults at me. You are showing yourself to be an uneducated fool.

Setting aside all the questions about the right to build the pipeline, I am wondering if any if the rail tracks go through "native" territory and, if yes, were they approved by natives? If the answer to the first question is "no" or to the second question is"yes", then, regardless of the "right" to build the pipeline, GET THE HELL OUT OF THE TRAIN TRACKS. Train tracks is a private property, so, barricading them is really equivalent to barricading someone's home. I own a portion of this tracks, so, why someone else is on my property whom I did not allow to go there?

Trudeau says "barricades must come down" now:

I find it amusing watching Chrystia Freeland stand to Trudeau's right, nodding along to everything he says.

If these blockades keep on going, it will most likely trigger a recession - populist resentment is a direct threat to Trudeau's job security; ergo, his hand has been forced.

Freeland makes a good sign language interpreter for the mentally impaired lefties

Shake head, raise eye brows and even nod and raise eye brows at the same time. Damn she is good.

Trudeau just put the fire out on his burning ass. Freeland gets a get out of the dog house free card , political points and DATY as she moves up the political lader.

Trudeau had to act before Legault ( Premier of Quebec ) sent in the Quebec Provincial Police to the train blockade in St. Lambert PQ. Legault is an opportunist and will steal the thunder from Trudeau to make himself look good and to get re-elected.
