Air Canada says a Toronto-bound airplane is preparing to make an emergency landing at Madrid's international airport due to an engine issue and reported tire rupture. The airline says a Boeing 767 carrying 128 passengers is circling Adolfo Suarez-Barajas airport to use up fuel and lighten the jet for landing.

Plane may have lost part of its landing gear.

Landed safely, no surprise there. Blown tires aren't usually a problem.

I read that some parts of the landing gear got ingested by the engines. So I guess bits of the front tire?

Most likely the cause. Shit happens. The rear gear is aft of the engines.
