Eli Manning will announce his retirement this Friday, about time, last few years he was pretty bad.

He can hold his head high, as he defeated Tom Brady twice in the Super Bowl.

He played the absolute best games of his career at the right time.

But his career won-loss was 117-117 (which also implicates the organization). I think a more telling stat is career QB rating of 84.1 Considering that he played in a pass happy era, meh.

Don't get me wrong, he seems like a good guy and had a great career. Congrats to him, but (and it will be debated) I don't think he is HOF worthy.

For sure not HOF worthy. He might get a lot of push from the New York influence.

On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, Greece
The New York Giants received:

Eli Manning, QB
The San Diego Chargers received:

Philip Rivers, QB
2004 3rd-round pick (Nate Kaeding, PK)
2005 1st-round pick (Shawne Merriman, OLB)
2005 5th-round pick (traded to TB for Roman Oben, OT)

My question is did the Giants win this trade?

I'm a life long Chargers fan and I'm undecided.

Manning as Shack stated rose to the occasion when it mattered the most but would he have played that way with the Chargers.

Would Rivers have fared better with the Giants?

Not worthy of HOF IMO, as his career sort of parallels Jim Plunkett's. They both won 2 Super Bowls and their won lost records are at .500, Plunkett is not in the HOF.

River's stats dwarf Eli's. I would imagine the Giants may have done better with Rivers but differences in coaching etc make it very hard to quantify.
