She hired extras to be "protesters" and didn't even tell them but instead they were made to believe it was for a shoot.

But were there pictures of Canadians protesting her unfair trial which could be played on Chinese television? If so, it was a success. They're unlikely to include the other parts in their news stories. The attitude towards it over here isn't relevant to the programming.

Apparently, the first question for the court to decide is whether what she is alleged to have done would also be a crime in Canada?

There was a time when Canada marched to our own drummer like continue doing trade with China and Cuba despite the U.S. boycott. Now we march to the tune of the U.S. drummer.

Maybe that's because we have a binding Extradition Treaty with the USA, Darts?

Just a suggestion there...

We do but the treaty allows Canada to deny entradition if its not in our interests. JWR fucked Canada by her sheer lack of courage and self interest.

Arresting Meng has to be the stupidest thing a government has done in a long time.

Why are two teams of lawyers, and a judge, allowed to dictate Canadian foreign policy?

Should we expect two teams of lawyers, and a judge, to defend Canadian interests?

The hands off approach from Trudeau's government appears to be a straightforward abdication of duty.

Whether it was inexperience or just plain incompetence, this episdoe has hurt Canadian interests. But that is not the worst part.

The worst part it appears the damage to Canadian interests cannot be minimized and appears to be open ended at this point.

If you guys wanna let us be bullied by the Chinese then that’s up to you. I’m glad we arrested Weng and I hope she gets extradited ASAP.

If that happens, the two Micheal's will not come home for a very long time.

You expect the Americans to stand up to China, for those two Canadians and bring them home to Canada?

Trudeau point blank asked Trump that no trade deal be signed between the United States and China, unless the Chinese resolved the two Michael's situation. Trump goes ahead and signs the biggest trade deal ever according to him, which he clearly got the better of the Chinese, again according to him. Then if he won this over them, then why could he not do anything for our fellow Canadians?

This is disgraceful. Two things are absolutely certain at this stage.

1. Canada got played for a fool. Canada takes the punishment, gets nothing in return, except another kick in the balls.

2. No one defends Canadian interest. Certainly not the Liberal party of Canada, the current party in power on Parliament Hill.

Exactly, arresting Meng was the dumbest thing a Government has done in a long time.

To kidnap an executive of a Chinese Company that is a commercial threat to American companies. Mafia methods.

It will be quiet for about two months until the judge decides whether the prosecution has a case.
