So I watched The Highwaymen on Netflix- it’s a good movie about a couple of retired Texas Rangers’ being hired to hunt down Bonnie and Clyde in the Depression era SouthWest.

The problem for me, though, was this one scene where Kevin Costner walks into a local gun shop and stocks up on guns and ammo- he buys almost every damned gun in the store from a Thompson sub machine gun to a Winchester repeating rifle and a shit ton of ammunition with no paperwork and no questions asked. It’s like a 2nd Amendment supporter’s wet dream. The scene is obviously intended to antagonize gun control advocates like me...and it works. I know I’m being trolled...and it still works.

But the worst part of this whole damned thing is that as I’m watching this scene I find it kinda cool watching Kevin Costner load up on firepower...it’s badass and I find myself actually understanding why people get into this firearms bullshit.

I hate myself...LOL.

That’s the way it was back then.
At least the sign on the door said no selling to minors.

Fake.

Out of curiosity, I listened to the above documentary. The BAR's - and I would guess the Thompson as well and the ammo for both - would only be available from military installations. The cops needed special government permission to access and use those arms. They did not buy them from a corner gun shop.

And Clyde Barrow was a soft-spoken, church-going young man; but he was buggered into a life of crime in prison. That's another thing I learned.
