Students these days don't know what a chore it was to do projects/assignments back in the day. We physically had to go to the library to use the encyclopedias and other sources of information.
Yes you and all of the other students at the same time . What a pain that was .

Presumably you are a descendant of the real Captain Bligh? Unless you have a pact with the devil and you are he?

He was one of the first GG's of the colony of NSW (Australia) back in early 1800s and was not horrible (although they chased his arse out lol) ; his navigation post-bounty mutiny still considered one of the most amazing feats of seamanship ever.

My father bought me an absolutely beautiful ivory leatherbound full set of the Encyclopaedia Britannica, Gold gilded on the outside of each page, when I was 11 or12 , and it was a marvelous resource for me. It was my personal "Google" and it helped me immeasurably. Sometines when I was bored, I'd just pick a random one and skim through it just for fun. Or I'd go through one page by page just counting the number of pictures in that volume but stopping everytime I spotted something of interest. I spent hours on hours just sponging up info. As well, we'd get a book of the year each year summarizing events of all nature from around the world of the previous year. That itself was about 1,000 pages and very exhaustive.

For those of you wondering how I know so much about so many topics :yo::rolleyes:, it is because of the EB and watching Jeopardy since 1965.

Lucky you, there's something about holding and feeling a high quality leather bound book with the HQ glossy pages, especially the pictures.

It actually started in 1964, Art Fleming was the original host. Trebek has been host since 1984.
And it used be on at noon. I believe it followed "Say When" with Art James and "Concentration" with Hugh Downs before that.

The most valuable Hot Wheels car of all time was only a prototype: a pink, rear-loading Volkswagen Beach Bomb that didn’t make it to market. It sold for a staggering $125,000 at auction in 2011, but it’s not the only valuable Hot Wheels. According to Hot Wheels collector, historian and appraiser Mike Zarnock, a 1968 Cheetah Base Python with “Cheetah” on the base could be worth about $12,500. Meanwhile, collectors and sellers Brian and Anna have about a dozen rare Hot Wheels listed on their site for several thousand dollars right now.

There is quite a list of toys from the past in this link that are worth big bucks now:

But the sources were far more reliable than what some students are quoting as online sources these days

There was a time when hats were widely worn. I see a few famous people make this fashion statement but never seem to see them in everyday life. Too bad, they look great.

I remember my dad wearing a hat when going to church . At the back of each pew there was a thingy that you pushed to hang your hat or even a ladies purse .

I still have his hat . Hats showed a sign of class . Wish they were back in fashion . Looks like they are in the warmer States .

Wrist watches.

Many young kids never had one and do not even know how to read an analog dial on a watch. They rely on the digital numbers on cell phones.

BTW- You can get a top quality Chinese watch these days with a sapphire crystal and Seiko Japanese mechnical movement for about $100 USD.
