Leafs need to learn to run legit interference, all the other teams do it, Boston gets away with murder.

The secondary D comes over to support the puck D, gets in the way of the line of forecheck creating a speed bump.
The caveat is a forward has to come back deep as the outlet pass to relieve the secondary D.
Leafs still keep their secondary D way off to the other side or behind the net for the outlet.
Yeah everytime the Leafs do it, the get called.

McD in Edm hasn't hit anyone in his whole career. Biggest floater out there. Soft as putty. Skill? Who cares. Total crap. Shouldn't even be in the league. He should be working in McD.
I swear, every time I read your posts I learn something.
This angle has been played 30 times already, give or take, but you have a unique way of making it fresh and new.
Keep up the good work.

I wish Nylander would stop producing on such a consistent basis. That way we could all agree that he is shit. 18 goals in 28 games is difficult for most people to ignore. That is about a 52 goal/season pace over a stretch that is more than 1/3 of a season.

Last year he was shit. He is not the same player this year.

Nylander just floats around to find the loose puck and nets the game-winner. The puck seems to follow this floater around.

I wish Nylander would stop floating, cruising the perimeter, and start showing some jam, get to the dirty areas of the ice.

Perimeter Willy.

Floater.

Did you guys see how Florida scored their first goal ? Willy was floating in the defensive zone and it was the man who he was responsible for scored the goal. On the winning goal it was Clifford and Kerfoot that did a lot of work to cause the loose puck and Willy found it and became the finisher.

It was a great team effort and they bailed out Andersen.

Shouldn't Zac Hyman be wearing an A on his jersey, he's the heart and soul of the team. He certainly doesn't eat at Schmucko's Pizza.

A little off topic but I just saw how Carey Price just played his 11th game in a row and Habs give up 5 goals. Talk about too much playing time. The Montreal "system".

Darts, what do you think about the 32 year old Price being played like that. BTW, Fred Andersen is 2 years younger.

Woo boy, when you consider CP31's cap hit ($10,500,000 for 6 more seasons after this one), he should not only be playing all the games, but selling poutine during intermissions.

The team needs to be stripped down starting with GM and coach. They have both had lots of time to make that team a contender but this will be 3 years in a row with no playoffs. Maybe if they hired management based on hockey acumen as opposed to language skills they might get better results. At this point, the fans must be so pissed off they'd accept someone with the French skills of Don Cherry.

Time to trade Gallagher and Domi for some draft picks (2nd rounders?). Their value will never be higher.

While the men from both team were battling each other for the puck in the goal crease, Nylander was just standing on the sideline watching like an interested spectator.

Regardless of how it was scored, you can't take away the fact it was a desperately needed winning goal for a team teetering on the brink of oblivion. The sad part is that the great effort Slippery Willy put out in last game was clearly just an aberration, as he was back to playing the same listless, mediocre effort game tonight that is his typical performance. Badly out of position most of the night, easily pushed off the puck, bad passes creating too many turnovers in the offensive end, and always reaching for the stick check. The goal between his legs was beautiful, but the solid 60min effort in all aspects of the game was clearly just a one time thing.

Leafs needed this one badly - hopefully it's a confidence booster that can generate some new momentum forward.

I suppose you can say that was great team work. Two foot soldiers doing the dirty work and Willy with the great shot finished it off. Credit is due to him as much as the blame for giving up the first goal because he failed his checking assignment.

That’s how he ended up with a 0 plus/minus. Not entirely his fault for that first goal against, but not entirely all his credit for the winning goal. I used to say the same thing about Jake Gardiner. He and Willy are often the most dangerous guys in both ends of the rink. They look great when Leafs score and that’s all some fans care.

Quote from Willy's post-game interview tonight...

"Clifford was battling there in front and it just somehow wound up on my stick. I turned and just threw it at the net. Luckily it went in, but we'll take it."

You just can't find that kind of grit anymore.

At least he was honest about it unlike his groupies in here who are still furiously jerking off to it. That goal could have gone off his ass and they would have gone off the deep end.

As I said a while ago, Holl is a keeper. He has the making of an all-star defence man. He's got the size, the skill and sees the ice really well. The only question remains is he good enough for the Leafs?
