Wagner was also not welcome in our Jewish home...
Until I was a violinist in our High School orchestra and participated in a performance of the prelude to Act III of Lohengrin... which was an exhilarating experience from within the orchestra!
I have listened to a lot of his music since then. Very mixed feelings and emotions. Got "hooked" into the overture to Tannhauser... especially after a couple of tokes! :applause:
Whatever his politics and ethics, his music often overwhelms me. Must have been the same for his sponsors and patrons, many of whom were also Jewish! :ambivalence:
