I always said Jason Kenney was a better choice. Sheer is too much of a nice guy, bright but lacked charisma..

Another dirty conservative..how shocking lol
What's dirty about having a deal with your party to pay for your kid's education?

And if you believe that's indeed dirty, will you hold the same judgement in the days and weeks ahead when other party members disclose that their respective parties pay for their kid's education? You know that's coming right?

I'm sure CPC donaters didn't think their money was going Scheer's kids' private school.

Yup. Nothing says "bright" better than a guy who never finished undergrad at the University of Saskatchewan and never quite passed his insurance agent exam.

And Kenney is too closely connected to AB and its point of view to have any chance of getting votes in ON or Quebec. The result would have been the same. I would bet you that Kenney and Moe will turn down the offers of leading the CPC and both will stay in his own respective little pond.

To have won the last election, the Tories needed a centrist Toronto based leader. John Tory would have been just fine. Trudeau wasn't that hard to beat. The CPC just fucked it up, as usual.

Donations support the party and its members. If paying for the leader's kid's private school is funded by the party because that was the deal they made, like many other things then so be it. Nothing shocking here.

I agree, nothing shocking here.
Just another conservative politician funnelling money back to himself.

As long as Charles McVety and his evangelical misfits have a say in who the party leader is the Conservatives will not thankfully win a majority for a long time. I completely agree John Tory would make a great leader but I don't think he'd be interested in the job.

Tory had his chance in the Conservative party and he royally blew it. He will never get another shot by the Conservative voters.

Rona would scare the Liberals the most: a woman, from the west, miles more attractive than Scheer, feminist credentials, cabinet experience in many positions, not weighed down by the evangelicals, more substantial than MacKay....

Not quite. But keep reading those headlines because that's all you have enough of an attention span to do.
Speaking of headlines, remember Wynne giving lucrative contracts to her wife and brother-in-law?
Talk about funnelling money back to herself.
btw Remember when Ontario had a Liberal party?

Agreed.
Liberals' heads would be spinning trying to find things they could attack her for...usual stuff, like the way someone looks or speaks.
Liberals appointed her to the NAFTA advisory council.

He used party funds for his kids' education.

Sounds like everyone went along w it at CPC HQ and even probably slapped Andy on his back for being so clever..... until it became time to force him out of politics and another rightie loser needed to take the helm after yet another defeat. And then of course, one of the party "faithful" phoned his favourite corrupt reporter and forced Andy's handy.

My thoughts exactly.

And to watch them all swarm around Scheer and applaud him in the house with fake smiles and back slaps was sickening.

John Tory?

As in Mayor John Tory?

mmmmm, no.

Tory is a stuffed shirt. A natural born administrator with 0 vision. Tory is not a builder, or a dreamer, or a planner. He's all about policy, precident and function. As Mayor, he has accomplished absolutely nothing in 6 years. At least Rob Ford was "subways subways subways" (even if he never had a plan to PAY for them, at least he had the ability to dream). Tory? He is well organized. I suppose. Guy's never had an original thought in his life and by all accounts, a tyrant behind the scenes.

Here's the problem from my pov. Western Conservatives think their shit smells like lavender, they don't play well with impure Ontario and Quebec. Peter McKay has made Toronto his home, he's been courting Bay St.

I hope a better choice arises.

Simply put,MacKay has a soft upper lip. After the unification of the right, he failed to establish himself like Paul Martin did under Chretien. While Harper was generous with the ministerial appointments, Peter never managed to build his own following within the party. If he couldn't do it under the Harper's umbrella, there's no way he'll be able to lead standing alone.

Well, Rob did smoke a lot more weed than Tory and that would explain the "vision".

But seriously, Toronto is the fastest growing, most transformed city in North America. Someone has to be overseeing that growth!
