Someone should put a gun to Rona's head and make her run

Good, wrong guy for the job. Speculation is, he was using party funds for his kids education.

All Scheer had to do was maintain his pudgy Sheldon Cooper persona and he would be Prime Minister today. In the end he couldn't hide his convictions.

Peter McKay would be worse, he has no convictions, he's a Blue McGuinty.

My choice for Prime Minister...Trump's hand would need to be tied to his waist if he met her.

Great, hopefully they can pick someone who can defeat Trudeau.

Good decision by Scheer and the party. I think this means the Conservatives are willing to bring down the Trudeau government sooner, rather than later, but not before they have a new leader installed.

I wonder if Peter McKay will through his hat in the ring.

He used party funds for his kids' education.

Sounds like everyone went along w it at CPC HQ and even probably slapped Andy on his back for being so clever..... until it became time to force him out of politics and another rightie loser needed to take the helm after yet another defeat. And then of course, one of the party "faithful" phoned his favourite corrupt reporter and forced Andy's handy.

In the aftermath of the election, I was on the fence about Scheer. I had seen convincing arguments that he should throw in the towel and some convincing arguments that he should stay.

But his performance in the weeks after the election (as is captured quite well in this column: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/pol...ormance-ensured-his-run-as-leader-was-beyond/) decided the issue for me.

In particular, his declaration that he would never march in a Pride parade -- without really explaining his reasoning -- convinced me he would never be prime minister.

However it came about, I'm glad he has resigned.
