Blocked Thermostats in Hotel Rooms and Condos?

Red House over yonder.
Lately I have observed that some thermostats are either not connected to anything or are computer limited no matter how much you turn up the heat. Other thermostats seem to flat out lie.

The Prez was staying at the Northern Red House and trying to turn up the heat. Optimum cavorting temperatures are always a little higher than day to day temps. No matter how high I tried to run up the heat the wall unit registered 23.5 C and that was a big lie. There is no way that temp was 74.3 F.

There may be global warming but there seems to be involuntary hotel and condo cooling.

At the opposite end of the scale I once arrived at the South Tower of the old Park Hyatt. The air was cranked down to freezing temps. A beautiful visitor was due to arrive soon. They sent up a wise old Chinese maintenance man wearing a massive tool belt. He gave a hearty laugh and exclaimed, "Thermostat not connected to anything!" I asked to be moved to the newer North Tower before my guest arrived.

In the future I will be bringing an electric box heater. Wearing a sweater like Jimmy Carter is not the answer.

Helpful hint - To convert C to F multiply the C temp by 1.8 and then add 32 degrees. I still think C degrees are too big for precise adjustment.

I don't do condos or the like, but have had no such issue in any hotel I've stayed at. Any modern hotel should always allow independent control of heating and AC within the room.

It might be the case that owners of condo rentals units have set the heating/cooling to some fixed temp. that can't be adjusted. Fuck that. Another reason I insist on using hotels only.

Here
In most condo's they have a H-vac system which only blows heat or cool depending on the season the only control each unit has is the amount of fan power. The units have fan coil system which work sort of the same as a radiator in a car.

I think most condos have heat pump systems, usually water cooled. You can run heat or cool. Some older condos do have hydronic fan coils, but the newer buildings have mostly decentralized HVAC to the suite owners, so that any problems are dealt with by the owner, not the condo and mainetnence fees. But either way, what you are describing is something that would have to be installed by the owner of the unit, as there is really no benefit to the building one way or the other to do it. So what if it saves hot water? Maintenance fees pay for it anyway.

A guy who works on HVAC systems in office buildings told how he sometimes deals with complaints about the temperature of an office. He installs a thermostat on the wall that is not connected to anything. This usually stops the complaint because the occupant of the office thinks they have control over the temperature.
