When Nathan was announced during the news broadcast, the above video was the first thing that came to mind. LOL
Without hiring outside of the CTV family, I really don't know who else could have filled in for Ken's big shoes? I would have gone with Nick Dixon, but's he's too new.

Yeah, Shaw is a voluntary retirement. He's also pulling a Lloyd Robertson, where he's no longer on-air everyday, but will do special interviews and/docs.
From people i know who work there, CTV is all about slashing payroll. News Network has no full-time writers, producers or anchors now. Apparently they started letting people go back in 2016, and everyone there now is freelance.
As for the Don Cherry firing... I feel it's likely he would've been put out to paster after this season (I believe he was on a one-year contract). But, firing him in November probably saved them a ton of money, plus the headache of dealing with his non-hockey opinion stuff (though I'm sure they had some issues with some of his hockey crap, specifically the concussion cult shit...).
From his escort review history, it's seems to be the only lady he likes. ;-)
Yes, that was obvious when they fired Lance Brown and Joe Tilley and they were never replaced. I thought the same would happen to the noon and supper time CTV NEWS and might still happen as Bell Media is also the owner of CP24.
Regarding Nathan Downer, let's hope he has a pristine history given the environment in 2019 where something someone did as a 17 year old comes back to haunt them to-day.
I only brought up the point because the differences between the types of termination are important in a legal sense. Then there's the Employment Standards Act to contend with, the exact wording of Shaw's contract, if he belongs to a union, etc.
Not sure if Ken Shaw is actually legendary. So he was there many years, so what. What is legendary about him ?
Classic tv moment, and it makes Nathan more legendary than Ken Shaw could ever hope to be, yet in the worst way possible.
