I think if we had our own NFL team (not saying it is at all likely to happen anytime soon) I think they'd be supported. We support major league teams consistently. Less than major league is hit and miss.It doesn't matter what brand of Football it is....Toronto just isn't a Football town. Remember 10 years ago when Rogers arranged for the Bills to play one home game at Rogers Centre?
Lots of interesting thoughts but I am afraid that it would end up being a version of Arena footballIf CFL is going to survive, let alone thrive, it needs to abandon most of the canadian nuances is applies to its product. Adopt NFL-style rules, smaller field dimension, eliminate roster limitations, use a more player friendly football....many more. The CFL game itself, in its current form, is simply not exciting enough.
In fantasy world, as an example, what if CFL adopted:
- 5 down football, 15 yards for a first down, but no punting, on NFL sized playing field and end zones?
- Extra point must be kicked from the 40 yard line? Goal posts at back of end zone.
- What if you could only try kicking a field goal outside 40 yards? More points per field goal depending on distance kicked? If you miss, one point awarded to other team?
- 10 men only, offense and defense. But anyone can play any position, and be an eligible ball carrier or receiver.
- Personal fouls result in that team playing a man down for the balance of that possession.
Lots of other creative ways to update the game to make it more challenging, faster, and more exciting to watch.
Very true, but would that be a bad thing? I'm not suggesting blowing up the game completely, but 2-3 significant changes might help. Tempering degree, pace and cadence of change is also an important consideration. Lots to be learned from Arena, XFL, and AAF without replicating their demise.Lots of interesting thoughts but I am afraid that it would end up being a version of Arena football
I don't think that the rules are the problem and changing them would be useless.Very true, but would that be a bad thing? Earl Camembert. What is MLSE going to do with the Argos?Well I started the thread, so the news is that the Argos fired head coach Corey Chamblin. How many people knew that he was head coach? I couldn't have named him. So who should Pinball hire to replace him?
Apparently Calgary assistant coach Ryan Dinwiddie. So who should Pinball hire to replace him?
I heard that and surprisingly I've even heard of him. I actually do have confidence in Pinball. From what I've seen, he's been successful in almost all of his endeavours. A classy guy.Apparently Calgary assistant coach Ryan Dinwiddie.

But it's so Canadian! What could be more polite than giving a guy an opportunity to not get drilled? The ONLY rule the CFL should consider dropping is the idiotic NO YARDS Rule! on punts..
