Say what you want but this league and this club has come a long way. The naysayers are still running around claiming it's a retirement league or other nonsense, that's no longer the case, sure it'll never be EPL, La Liga or Serie A, but who cares it doesn't have to be, I think the correct direction is the way they are currently doing this. Developing Canadian and US playera while going after Europeans who are great (Seba) but not good enough to start always with the huge clubs in their continent, add on young talent from Latin America. I'm a proponent of support your local football, I find this dudes running around calling themselves huge fans of Real Madrid or Juventus with no geographical or familial connection to the clubs absolutely silly.Nothing so far. Come on it's only MLS. LOL.
Add to the fact that MLS is expanding to 30 teams. Soccer is the fastest growing sport in North America for boys and girls.Say what you want but this league and this club has come a long way. Definitely a mistake possibly the greatest import player ever in the league when you look at his performance on the field. From what I understand it was about length of contract, he wanted longer than TFC was offering, so he took the bundles of tax free salary in Saudi Arabia and a lower quality league.Letting Gio go was a huge mistake, his op on the condition of the pitch was 100% accurate.
They could have beaten the Sounders with him. Anyone that saw his TSN clip riding the Queen St streetcar knows that he loved our city.
As you know, Major Powerhouse Clubs such as FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Arsenal (to name a few) have a huge, world wide fanbase. As you most likely know, I'm a Barca fan (Cul'e) as that's where my family lineage extends from. It seems almost incidental. I do have some very dedicated fellow "Cule's" who are from all over the world and nowhere near Europe. The reason being that they subscribe to the philosophy of the Club: "1) Develop your academy/youth system. 2) Respect the sport as an Art Form. 3) Elevate your life through the game.I'm a proponent of support your local football, I find this dudes running around calling themselves huge fans of Real Madrid or Juventus with no geographical or familial connection to the clubs absolutely silly.

It's too bad the MLS is expanding as such. There are not enough quality players for this. It should not go past 20 teams (24 at most). It should also include 'relegation' and this would develop the NASL and create more competition all across the table.Add to the fact that MLS is expanding to 30 teams. and in my opinion, a crap place to live compared to this kick ass city. Sorry to anyone from SA if I'm offending you, but I could never live there.Definitely a mistake possibly the greatest import player ever in the league when you look at his performance on the field. I agree with you he was such a great player!!! But my understanding is that he was asking for the moon no?Letting Gio go was a huge mistake, his op on the condition of the pitch was 100% accurate.

I agree with you. I have roots in Europe. Yes I am a big fan of the PSG, watch the premier league and all. But I a am not one of those snobs that think shit of the MLS because it's not on par with european league. I embraced my team, Montreal, when they joined the MLS.Say what you want but this league and this club has come a long way. Michael Bradley resigns. Bradley is no longer a DP, took a hometown discount. TFC have room for another DP. Time to bring back Seba.
I like the fact that Bradley took a pay cut. You rarely see that in pro sports anymore
Well he was making $6.5M USD.Is it possible that he really didn't? I mean how many other teams would have made him a DP at this age and/or paid him big money? I don't know much about MLS so I'm legitimately asking.
I know that, but to infer that he took a pay cut would mean he was offered better money somewhere else, and I'm wondering if TFC offer was the same as other offers he may have received. Like I highly doubt he was going to be a DP anywhere else, but again, I don't know much about MLS.Well he was making $6.5M USD.
He could have gone to Europe or Asia for more. Bradley likes it in Toronto, his wife doesn't want to move, his kids go to school here and has friends. Looks like Bradley may retire here.I know that, but to infer that he took a pay cut would mean he was offered better money somewhere else, and I'm wondering if TFC offer was the same as other offers he may have received. He definitely couldve made a lot more money playing in China or QatarHe could have gone to Europe or Asia for more. Bradley likes it in Toronto, his wife doesn't want to move, his kids go to school here and has friends. Looks like Bradley may retire here
More than likely would have been Asia as his European career has seen all it has to offer. He's played for SC Heerenveen, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Aston Villa, Chievo and AS Roma. It was Roma who sold him to TFC.He could have gone to Europe or Asia for more. Bradley likes it in Toronto, his wife doesn't want to move, his kids go to school here and has friends.
