Charlie's Angels bombed at the box - office, critics said it was better than the brain dead earlier films.

What did they expect? They went out of their way to alienate their target audience. Elisabeth Banks isn't happy about it.

I knew this would happen as soon as I watched the trailer. It’s not even that the whole things was pretty anti-male, it wasn’t meant for me, that’s fine, so much as that it seemed to blatantly pander to women. It had all the generic “girl power!” tropes. If I was a woman and watched that trailer, my reaction would’ve been less “this is awesome!” and more rolling my eyes. I mean, I’m not a woman, so I could be totally off-base here, but the whole thing just reeked of soulless Hollywood committee thinking to me.

"Hey guys lets make a movie where sex appeal is a big part of the movie, but then lets take the sex appeal part away."

Is it toxic femininity, that women are the target audience for rom coms?

Of course I don't agree with the premise. I watched the trailer during Terminator Dark Fate, I said to the folks with me, "this is gonna stink like vaginosis".

Mackenzie Davis in terminator Dark Fate and Samara Weaving in Ready or Not were both excellent, I watched those films in the theater for them. You can't cut corners and alienate your target audience and expect profits.

On to the Mackenzie Davis, Kristen Stewart lesbian romance film.

I don't know how the fuck Kristen Stewart keeps getting work in Hollywood. Just watching paint drying blandness...……….Charlies Angel's looked like a bona fide "dick kicker" film. Not surprised it bombed.

Patrick Stewart seemingly loves playing these "shit" roles.
At his age, Sir Patrick just wants to enjoy the remainder of his life, if he can surround himself with nubile young women more power to him. Even thought I think Mackenzie Davis is an very talented actress I'll probably skip The Happiest Season, everything Kristen Stewart touches turns to shit.

My interest was piqued when I heard Tattiawna Jones was in the movie. She worked with Davis in Tully, more importantly she played Ofglen 2 in The Handmaid's Tale. Very memorable character, she had her tongue cut out for speaking out against the stoning of adorable Janine (that would have been too horrific) then suicide bombs The Red Center....she's not in the film so I don't really care.

Hey, when you're a knight you can do shit projects like this that take zero effort and still get paid. Not a bad deal. Just remember that an Officer of the British Empire played the shit emoji :D

We all loved the female leads in Aliens and Terminator movies of the 80s and 90s (both still hold up today). Of course, that was before we had to be reminded every two minutes about girl power and patriarchy. We just saw tough women that could throw down, and even though neither of those leads would be considered classically beautiful, they were sexy without trying. They weren't women trying to be men. They played the role of leaders who happened to be female.

In many ways those were the last of the golden years of pop culture.

I’m curious how many more studios are going to keep listening to the people hocking these virtue signaling scripts?

I mean, sure Hollywood has deep pockets but at some point the bottom line comes in and stinkers like these feminist remakes just keep eating money.

Wouldn’t it be funny if the virtue signaling movement in movies is eventually crushed by accountants?

That's a good way to put it but I did have a thing for Sigourney at her best.

The new Eastwood film Richard Jewell is going to make the press and their fake narratives look really bad.

Won't be good for the whole cancel culture narrative as well. I predict it won't be liked by the critics on rottentomatoes, lol.

Charlie's Angles the movie a few years back, Cameron Diaz was decent, Drew Barrymore was weak, but Lucy Liu was totally kick ass. Of the three hands down she was the best actor.

If Eastwood sticks to the story, which is compelling enough, and doesn't politicize it, I seriously doubt it will be panned on Rotten Tomatoes. Jewell was a flawed man who became a convenient scapegoat when the Atlanta police couldn't make a quick arrest.

I don't know that much about Paul Hauser (Richard Jewell), his resume says that he was in BlackKklansman but I don't remember him.

It's official Charlie's Angels can never make back it's money...even if it has a Molly's Game run on VOD.

Molly's game was a pretty damn good movie, Jessica Chastain didn't go all out to showcase male toxicity. Everyone in that film had a flaw.

Worth watching...the best part, lovely Jessica's boobs seem to take on whatever role she's playing.

Disney continuees to squeeze cash out of an empty franchise. The hate is mounting around Daisy Ridley, it's a lose, lose situation for her. She had no acting credits prior to Shit Wars, she couldn't be expected to carry a tentpole franchise. Worst of all it's stunting her development as an actor, nothing she's done outside of Shit Wars has any circulation.

I had to endure the Shit Wars trailer prior to Ford vs Ferrari, the usual Disney tropes were on full display. Their movies are cinematic cocaine for the masses. They've signed up 10 million customers for Disney + - that's a lot of people yearning for diabetes.

This is the trend in Hollywood these days, every crap movie that stars a female and bombs is somehow linked to sexists and toxic masculinity. This is like the fatty blaming Mcdonalds for being one, how about trying to do interesting movies, with great characters and writing. Or how about something original and not a comic book or the continuation of a franchise? Dudes had zero issues shelling out money for the Terminator, Alien and Wonder Woman movies because those were tough women placed into bad situations and had to survive, there was never the in your face "WOKE" nonsense you are bombarded with today, anyone want to see a horrific example just watch 2 minutes of the CW's Batwoman with that skinny supermodel Ruby Rose or whatever her name is.

In better news Paula Malcolmson (Abby Donovan) is now in Watchmen.

Man did she throw a stinger at Looking Glass, E5 ended on a real cliffhanger. So far there hasn't been an actress that looks out of place in the series.

...I'm going to wait until more of you have seen E5 before discussing Ms. Malcolmson's role in it...suffice to say she's not nice!

This is it. There are lots of great movies with female leads that guys love. Kill Bill is a great example. The original Star Wars trilogy had Princess Leia who, while not the lead, was a beloved character and a total badass. This is where studios go wrong. They just shoehorn in female/minority/whatever characters who aren’t interesting or well written, then throw a fit and blame sexism/racism/homophobia for their movie bombing. No guys, the movie didn’t bomb because we’re sexist. It bombed because you made a shit movie and shoehorned in social justice-y nonsense, thus already alienating half your customer base.

I thought the point of all this nonsense was to be inclusive? Well, inclusivity cuts both ways. You can’t be inclusive by marginalizing another group, even if that group is the apparently worse than Hitler evil white hetero cis male demographic. That’s not being inclusive, that’s just swinging the hate pendulum to the other side. Like, it’s fine to have movies that are more aimed toward one group or another, everything doesn’t have to be for me, that’s fine. The problem comes when you openly mock or attack another group just to win brownie points from the idiot twitter mob. It doesn’t even work anyway. People are wise to it and they don’t like it. By all means, though, if you want to keep making bombs, go for it.

My point is, make good movies, make good characters, and we’ll watch them and enjoy them. Don’t blame us for your inability to produce quality content. The vast majority of people aren’t going to care one way or another if you have a woman or a minority playing the lead character, and the few who do aren’t worth pandering or listening to anyway. Just give us good movies and we’ll throw money at you!
