Bullshit.... he took a lot of shit from Cherry on the air and always retained his composure and dignity and preserved their friendship.
Like I said - pandering...bordering on sycophantic. Kept his dignity? On many nights, it was cringe-worthy to watch him essentially being emasculated live on air by the things Cherry would say to him. Then he'd pop a quick quip to end the segment with that 'sick to his stomach', hang dog look on his face.
I don't know what the issue is about an American hosting. Is it a prerequisite to be Canadian.

Don Cherry was iconic spanning more than one generation. In the current disposable social media world with the 30 second sound bites, no acts are likely to last long enough to become icons. Much of Don Cherry's base are those who significantly predate the internet and social media. Times are changing and the sands have shifted and continue to be influx. The advertisers struggle to keep up with these changes.
I wonder if Maclean realises that he's gone at the end of the season.
I would have had more respect for him if he had of taken responsibility and owned the fact that he agreed with what Cherry was saying instead of saying it got past him and he missed it.
At least go out with some integrity. I can't stand the sight of him now.
