With Don gone, what do you think Sportsnet will do with the time slot? Like him or not, a whole lot of Canadians tuned in to watch the old fart. Initially people will tune in to see what or who replaces the segment, but my guess is whatever they do, it won't generate the same numbers going forward.

Your thoughts?

On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, Greece
Brian Burke would be my choice.

He's old school and brings a lot of wisdom in his insight.

Politically since this seems to matter so much these days he seems to be neutral.

He does a great job on the Fan590 when he's on.

+1. Love listening to Brian Burke.

This won't be popular with some as you are bringing in an old school old white guy to replace an old school old white guy.

Maybe they will give up the segment altogether and bring back Andi Petrillo and the idesk. That was a great idea listening to her read tweets from the viewing public...."Bob from Keswick says the leafs should trade Kapanen" ...fuckin' awesome TV.

Mclean is the straight man, his counterpart must be someone who is funny and colourful: I say bring in Tiger Williams!

"Done like Dinner", "Metaphor?, what's that? a rock?"

That won't be happening any time soon. Andi Petrillo is with TSN (not Rogers SN). Sportsnet is looking to cut people (and their salaries). I would guess that those still employed by Rogers will fill in the time - to much lower ratings.

It should be a tanned poppy-wearing refugee or immigrant that replaces him.

Don't care. A black lesbian would check a lot of boxes.

Just get rid of McLean. He threw Cherry under the bus as far as I'm concerned. (Not that I was a huge fan of Cherry, but Cherry was loyal to McLean and advocated on McLean's part when McLean was fired. The lack of loyalty on McLean's part makes him worthy of scorn in my opinion.)

It will probably be Burke. They might even get rid of coach's corner and replace it with something else.

Why don't they get a bunch of random SJW's that know nothing about hockey and they can tell us all what triggers them? They can rant and rave about how xenophobic and racist Donald S was. Maybe Kyle Dubas can be the first guest.

We need more diversity in Hockey. I think bringing in David Amber or Chris Stewart as Don's replacement would help.

HNIC needs a fresh take, imho Brian Birke doesn't cut. Someone with hockey knowledge and charisma.

Someone like Mark Osborne.

How about they just select the best person for the job and leave all the PC stuff out of it.
He probably means Anthony Stewart who had a great junior career and won the Junior Championship twice with Canada. His professional career never panned out.

Don Cherry should buy a pink house...still relevant after all these years.

That's my guess. No one will really want to replace Don Cherry on a segment still called Coach's Corner.

Maybe they'll just do the regular panel and give updates and highlights from around the league. Pretty easy to fill time with highlights and then have [[Nick Kypreos (oops, another goner)]] Kelly Hrudy tell us what a good guy the goal scorer is.
