Excellent?Jays have inquired on free agent Travis Shaw.
Stick him at 1B. That would be an excellent signing

So Dubas should not have fired Babcock? Just asking.Any GM that makes moves because of what fans or journalist are saying should be fired immediately.

I didn't say that, but I will say that you can't deny that fans and journalist said he should go. Do you think that they were wrong? And you can prove he fired him because of fans and journalist??
Not necessarily saying that it is a good or bad move, but if it happened it would surely garner lots of attention around the city. Who knows, it might even sell some tickets. Here's a nice big fat juicy rumour we can chew on:

2019 was an off-year for him.Excellent?

Depending on what we would give up, that would IMO be a terrible trade. Here's a nice big fat juicy rumour we can chew on:

In fact you didn't say any of that. I made the statement, and you ask the question "So Dubas should not have fired Backcock?" Which would imply he was fired because he listened to fans and journalist. So I'm not sure what the hell your talking about at this point.I didn't say that, but I will say that you can't deny that fans and journalist said he should go. Do you think that they were wrong?
I also never said that a GM should listen to fans and media. I merely pointed out that not everybody agrees that they should wait 'til the "perfect" time and make mega-signings then. Why did that bother you?

Yeah. I wasn't sure where he was at with his progress, but we all know the players are getting pushed up younger and younger. And Pearson at some time next year as the potential number 1 or 2 (maybe).
Forget about Strasburg (not that Jays were gonna sign him anyways):

By Blue Jay standards he's a possible hall of famerJays acquire RHP Tanner Roark, two years at $12M/yr. Is he our ace?

No, but from past performance, he should be a solid innings eater.Jays acquire RHP Tanner Roark, two years at $12M/yr. Is he our ace?...
Yes. Had a 4.35 ERA last year. Putting that into perspective, Sean Reid Foley had a 4.26 ERA during his time in the majors last year....and he's a good bet not to even make the team and be released (according to the baseball writers).Jays acquire RHP Tanner Roark, two years at $12M/yr. Is he our ace?

That seems to be the approach that they've taken ever since they took over. He is just another stop gap acquisition while they hope the core develops. That's why they only signed him for two years. This has nothing to do with building a winner, or even a competitive team. At $12M/yr, I wouldn't be surprised if he is their most expensive signing.had some impressive years in the past and the Jays are hoping he can re-create that up here.
