Netflix has a problem.

Martin Scorsese's The Irishman is a 3 hours + masterpiece, it could do for Netflix what The Sopranos did for HBO. Should it be released in theaters or on their platform? It could bring Netflix a boatload of Oscars.

It's not just the esteemed main actors, welcome back Joe Pesci. It's also the supporting cast lead by Winnipeg's Anna Paquin, who could win a Best Supporting Actress Oscar. And Ray Romano in the role of his life.

The buzz is massive.

Anna Paquin was the youngest actor to win an Oscar. She's now achieved the highest honour bestowed upon an an actor - getting an invitation to Il Commendatore's Easter Dinner.

What does Commendatore mean? Captain of the Nation, comparable to a British Knighthood.

Mozart understood.

What's the problem? I thought it was being released in the theaters for the month of November before being exclusive to Netflix. This supposedly makes it eligible for the Academy Awards.

I know some are questioning this limited release strategy for currying Oscars. It would seem the entertainment awards are having to deal with a changing industry.

The Emmys gave Best Comedy Series to a British show that just had a six episode season. Seinfeld might still be on if they could've done six episodes a season.

I choose to remember the threesome scene she did in ''True blood''.......
I tried watching True Blood but lost interest.

The Irishman is the second of Scorsese's grand projects that he's completed, the first was Silence. Due to it's difficult nature, the third may never get made. It's a completed script that famed writer Robert Bolt (Lawrence of Arabia, A Man for all Seasons) bequeathed to Commendatore, in his final days, on Joseph Conrad's Nostromo. The making of Apocalypse Now, where the setting was changed the setting from Belgian Congo to Vietnam, nearly destroyed Francis Ford Copolla's health. Scorsese will probably pass it on to Christopher Nolan or another worthy director.

Joseph Conrad was an anti-Empire writers, the themes of his books are still very relevant today. Heart of Darkness (Apocalypse Now) caused a sensation when it was published, it exposed the inhumanity of the Belgian Congo.

I wasn't sure so I consulted Mr. Google and the youngest is Tatum O'Neal.

"Tatum Beatrice O'Neal (born November 5, 1963) is an American actress and author. She is the youngest person ever to win a competitive Academy Award,"

BTW: I think Shirley Temple might have won an "honorary" Oscar at a younger age.

It looks like Clint with his latest film will be The Irishman's main competition.

Boy did they fuck up during the Atlanta Olympics, sadly Richard Jewel passed away over a decade ago.

From Wiki

Although CNN settled with Jewell for an undisclosed monetary amount, CNN maintained its coverage was "fair and accurate"

Didn't the FBI unjustly go after this guy? Just sayin'.

I don't know that much about him, from what I read the FBI botched the initial investigation and looked for a scapegoat. When the scope of the investigation widened he was cleared of charges but his life was ruined. I hope Eastwood takes a pragmatic approach, most of Chris Kyle's (American Sniper) story has been proven false.
