It's not just about being tough you need a mix of guys to play physical to wear down the opposing team and force mistakes and turnovers. The Leafs likely don't have a forward in their lineup who will throw more than 120 body checks this season. Their biggest guy Gauthier is the equivalent of that 6'7" skinny white kid in your high school who couldn't dunk a basketball he was so uncoordinated. A complete waste.

Hyman (currently injured) is the only forward who consistently body checks. Don Cherry (love him or hate him) said the Leafs rarely finish their checks.

He's got more goals than Tavares right now. I know, I know, he can't can't keep it up but any contribution from the 4th line is more than welcome.

not always sure...

Because of their salary structure Tavares/Marner/Kapanen collected signing bonuses totalling $34 million July 1st.
..... and any contribution from the 4th line is welcome because the top line of Tavares/Marner/Kapanen haven't actually scored any even strength goals yet.

Tough guys do not prevent skilled players from getting hit.

Example 1.
Marc Savard has his career ended by Matt Cooke on what is generally regarded as a "cheap, predatory hit".
Not only did the Boston Bruins possess a noted "tough guy" in Milan Lucic, but Lucic was on the ice, and was in fact, the player who passed the puck to Savard, positioning Marc for a devastating hit from Cooke. Good thing Boston had some toughness.
thats about what i expected from you BIFF. you should worry about your own team.

One of the TV guys called Sandin "undersize". What is that supposed to mean? Is that code for "not big guy"?

(Voter turnout (30) is pretty good so far.)
Leafs are giving Sandin more ice time in the Marlies. He's going to be a good one. Gravel will sit in the press box might a see game against Boston, a team that's a little more physical.

I don't have a team (last I checked my portfolio, anyway).
