Will other states follow suit?
in order to attract the best athletes to their schools they may have to....

What say you sports enthusiasts??
The US prides itself on its' free market outlook. At the same time, these guys get a free ride from the college. If they are earning income from being in a college's program, maybe they should pay their own tuition or the college should get a piece of their action.

Why should they pay their own tuition when their talent brings in millions for the uni?

"or the college should get a piece of their action?" lol

The college is ALREADY making money off the 'bucks'.

The (male) football team probably generates $millions which are then used to subsidize sports that nobody watches (except families and friends) and produce little or no revenue.
Question: Who's the expert on Title IX?

But the college also gives a free ride to many players (possibly the majority of players) who don't become stars and don't help the college make money. I appreciate your point, but 10-15% would not be unreasonable.

derrick, you are one brave dude to disagree with one of the BFF's. Don't you know they think they are smarter and more knowledgeable than all other members on the Board?

Sincerely, I have felt very honoured and fortunate to read posts from and have discussions with some extremely intelligent people over the years. I have learned a lot.

In an effort to be genteel and not calling names, I have to say that you are very, very far from being included in that group. Actually, I'd be surprised if anybody at all included you in their own similar list.

And if you notice, I replied in a respectful, non-argumentative way. Kind of "agree to disagree". Do you know why? It is because derrick made a reasonable point based on logic and correct facts. That is opposed to you who make so many posts that are factually wrong, use misunderstood terminology, fail to understand the basics of sports you purport to be so knowledgeable about, come up with some cockamamie ideas (no field goals in the NFL or eliminate a 2nd serve in tennis)--ideas that would totally alter the basic dynamics of games that have been in place since day 1 and on and on and on, it would be funny if not so sad. No! Wait!. It is still funny..

So basically, some deserve to be treated with respect and others who do not. Make accurate and logical posts and maybe you will be treated more positively by more posters than just I.

Please reread my post so you can see why I have different levels of respect for different members.

And you are not one to talk about being civilised when you throw in leftie this and leftie that in discussions that are not political.
