TBH, I was not a fan of Orr at the time because secondarily, hype turns me off and he was verrry hyped, not that it was his fault, but primarily because the Bruins were a goon team and I despised their style of play and to my credit, LOL, I still despise them.

As such, I do regret that I did not appreciate Orr during his time as I should have but I rate Orr and Gretz as co-greatest of all time. No other player is anywhere close to consideration.

I just remembered that this thread is about Lafleur and his surgery.

Robinson is one of my all time faves, even for a Hab. But he does not enter into any discussion when Orr is involved.

Same goes for Denis Potvin. He was a rookie in the Isles 1st year and had a crazy stat going something like being on the ice for every power play goal in franchise history for the 1st 10 or 12 years. And he was punishing. Still not on the same page as Orr.
And if you ask Don Cherry, he'd also tell you there's nothing in the world comparable to Orr lol!

According to the "old geezers" Bobby Orr is in a class by himself.
Are they wrong?

Red Kelly was the best offensive defenseman prior to Orr.
And Doug Harvey before him and Eddie Shore before that. Orr is the best overall. Why limit it to offense?

I rate Orr #1, Gretz and Lemieux co #2's.

You gotta ask yourself one question , If you iced a team of 5 Orrs vs 5 Gretzkys or Lemieuxs , who would win?

It would be team Orr hands down, cuz Orr played at both ends , Wayne and Mario didn't.
