I'm interested in upgrading my phone. I walked into a Rogers store to get pricing on the new iPhone 11 Pro Max. It's got some cool features and the camera(s) look amazing. I inquired about the 256GB version.

I was told I can get the device for $1,000 down and my monthly bill would increase $50 a month. Alternately, I could keep the same plan and buy the phone for $2,000. Prices include tax.

Are you kidding me?

I upgraded to the 11 Pro Max from the original X. Other than the size, the most noticeable improvement is the relatability of Face ID. Still wish they removed the notch and included an under screen fingerprint reader like some Chinese brands. Overall a meh upgrade.

I upgraded to the ip 11 pro max.

Main reasons extend battery life, great low light cameras and waterproofing to 4m for 30mins. All important features to me. I like it a lot however I upgraded from the iphone 8 plus.

Its well worth the price premium.

That's still almost $1700 here. Even more if tax is extra.

When I upgraded to the 7 Plus three years ago, the cost of my plan didn't change and I got the device for $650. Now they want to increase my bill by $600 a year (and every year after that) and charge me $1000 for the device or my plan remains the same and charge me $2000 for the device. What a difference a few years makes.

I can't justify the expense, especially since my 7 Plus still works great, other than the battery isn't as good as it used to be. But I've usually never far from a charger so that's not much of an issue.

Since Steve Jobs vision and innovation are no longer their, recent iPhones seem to be price too high while offering too little in terms of novelties.

Been using the ip 11 pro max for about a week now.

I am seriously impressed with the battery life and the screen. Probably the best looking screen I have ever seen on a mobile device. For battery I have been using the phone today for example for over 9 hrs am am not below 50% yet.

The main camera is really nice however the other two are kind of soft.

The selfie one is also cool and especially the true depth because it gives you the ability to scan objects in 3D then print them later. Perfect example you can 3D scan your kid then print them so you see exactly how they looked like 20 years into the future.

I've seriously considered switching from Android to the iPhone 11..but that price tag is what stops me when i factor in AppleCare for the insurance too.

Do you guys who got the pro max get the extended warranty apple care as well? That makes it 2k!

Believe me, the iphone is a much better product than most androids such as Samsung. I used to own a Galaxy S6 and thought it was good. Then I upgraded to an iphone 8, and the difference was night and day. The iphone not only looked and felt so much nicer, everything worked so much better, was faster smoother, and did everything so much better. The speakers were great too. It was basically like comparing a Hyundai to a Mercedes.

If you want to have a phone that gets the job done, go for a cheaper android. If you want one that looks and runs amazing as well, and also has the prestige factor, go for the iphone. That is, if you can afford it. Most people can't afford a new Mercedes, and most people can't afford the latest iphone, but for those who can, and want to, I say why not?

You don’t need apple care because their devices still run and I never had a shattered screen. Example we are still using the 3GS and the original ipad as well as iPad mini 2. Also have 1 iPhone 4s, 2 iPhone SE’s and my previous iPhone 8+ and keep it us back up. All the phones and devices still run and never had a shattered screen. The 3GS still gets almost 2 days of battery life.

Therefore AppleCare not needed.

I can afford a new Mercedes and would buy one if I thought it was good value. I can also afford a $2000 iPhone. It's just that I don't think the 11 Pro Max is worth the $2K. I might get one if they come down to $1K though. Until then, nothing wrong with my current device.

You should wait for the 12, that's when the big change is happening. But maybe the year after that is better, since they would have ironed out the bugs. Either way, the 7/8 is a great phone and you should keep it for a couple years. I plan to keep my 8 till it's no longer working, as it works great.

Apple just made a great camera even better with Deep Fusion update and just destroys the note 10...

I don’t know what these guys are waiting for however this is the update to get based on camera, screen, battery, waterproofing and performance.

I don't think there's any "big changes" coming. They're really just small changes year to year. Features improve, battery life increases, camera gets better, that sort of thing. It's when you from a 4 to a 7 or 7 to 11 that you notice a big change. But the issue for me is the $2K price on principal, not the actual dollar amount.

The S6 was probably running Android 5.0. Android has gotten significantly better since then.

I don't have an apple phone but I have had their products in the past. Right now I have an android phone and tablet. IMO apple is the major leagues and Samsung and Android are the minor leagues. I have the most expensive Samsung tablet and I know it won't last more than 3-4 years. I have an apple ipod connected in my car that is 12 to 14 years old and still works like a charm. And it stays in the car 24-7 and I Park it outside so it goes thru crazy temperature changes.

A good temper-glass screen protector is $15. A nice case for additional protection against falls and such - and makes the phone more your own signature - $20-50.

I have replaced 3-4 shattered temper-glass screen protectors after nasty drops and never had damage to the phone's screen (apple and android phones).

Considering modern phones are waterproof typically as well - these few external protections is all you need to consider versus extended warranties - is my recommendation.

I’m not one to rave about iPhones, but I have been loyal to iPhone for sure for at least the past 9 years (since 4s) I upgraded to an 11 Pro Max. They still need to do something about the cursor being able to be placed between words during text messaging (it’s a little wonky), but I honestly have to say, this is the best iPhone I’ve ever had. I love the functionality, the swiping, the speed, the resolution, the camera, and the battery life is VERY GOOD.
