Not stealing it from taxpayers.

Another example of the rich and famous getting special treatment.

“Everyone knows where he eats, where he sleeps, and that has really freaked him out,” said Rafauli.
No shit Sherlock.

Maybe if your client wasn't such a blabbermouth with respect to where he lives and his new palace that might not be such a problem. I don't give a rat's ass about Drake, don't follow his comings and goings and I think his music is shit, but even I know all about his new palace. There's been so much in the media about it. Full articles in Toronto Life bragging about his lifestyle of the rich and famous design features. Pretty much everything except floor plans in there for crying out loud.

The guy is the poster child for conspicuous consumption. And as far as I know, he lives by himself. If I had his money, I would never build such a monster mansion. It screams look at me. A complete ostentatious display of wealth to an extreme level. Can't help but think of Mike Tyson and how he burned through 400 million like it was standing still.

Glad to see you guys have a sense of humor.

Yes, it's his own money paying for the fence but that monster house was also purchased with his own money.

What does that have to do with the price of corn?

It's not a question of "his own money". It's a question about whether or not he should be given an exemption to the bylaws regarding the maximum allowable height of a residential fence.

My point was that maybe if he was a little more low key in his over the top display of wealth he wouldn't have to be so concerned with people knowing where he lives.

It was a response to post #2.

anywhere i want;)
there is nothing wrong with a celebrity wanting more security at the place he lives. IMHO you cant really compare drake to trump.

I mean at least he invested in trees to hide the fences & at least he is using his own money . I know that was said before but its a valid point.

This guy has serious comprehension/logic issues. There was a discussion of Bianca being the first Canadian to win a tennis major and I mentioned a parallel with Mike Weir. So he brings up George Knudson and talks about how he died at a relatively young age. WTF? Darts is totally out to lunch and one cannot have a meaningful discussion with him.

I see nothing wrong with it. People get exemptions for shut all the time and the only reason you are hearing about is because it is Drake. So everyone and their dog has an opinion.

He made the effort for Aesthetics which most would not do. The trees were a great idea and he has the right to be safe in his own home. People were going to find out where he lived no matter what.

Plus he has brought in a ton of money for the city, it's the least the city can do in return.

I have no problem with it and in that neighborhood there are LOTS of fences that are higher than the allowance for the city. Homes are massive and large well treed lots I do not think this fence will stand out in the area at all.

There are homes in there with 24/7 personnel in guard houses controlling access behind nearly 10 foot high gates

I was responding to another member's post (see below). Try to keep up. Also, why are you bringing Mike Weir into a Drake discussion?

Walls and fences work.
Yeahhhhhhhh... no.

From History.com “Though the Great Wall never effectively prevented invaders from entering China, it came to function as a powerful symbol of Chinese civilization's enduring strength.”

Walls are mere symbols and as is often the case, especially with walls, symbols that simply quarantine the frightened as history rolls over them. The Ming dynasty was the most ardent at building the wall and yes, it did nothing to stop them getting steamrolled by the Qing. Perhaps if as much effort was put into building bridges....?

Ya hilarious drake a liberal supporter building a trump like wall
Well, they all do that- live behind sturdy walls manned by the armed security (in a lot of cases).
