There is one concern. She has a long history of injuries. One of the talking heads on TV actually listed them all. How many you ask? So many that her tournament play was rule restricted as a minor. Next, Beijing.

She's too classy for their clown show.
Yes Tim and Sid are polarizing - but this isn't Power and Politics.

Most sports talk shows are excruciating boring, Prime Time Live became hard to listen to. How often can you hear Steven A blather on about multi millionaire athletes. What Tim and Sid do is challenging, it's difficult to add an element of humour. It's also fresh and at times addictive, how can you watch their Raptors Raptors Championship Show and not say it's borderline genius. And they do interviews very well, she's going to have a great time at it. Unlike some of the mundane American appearances that's been her duty to perform. I'm looking forward to it - pop the champagne corks.

Humour is always good, no one should be trashed for attempting it...it's a joke folks relax - ET peons.

I like humour, but their brand does not appeal to me. As well, IMO, SS takes himself way too seriously. The only talk show that I watch with any regularity is Pardon the Interruption. Those guys are knowledgeable, and go at each other but in a mutually respectful way and with humour. They have good chemistry and are well spoken. It probably helps that it is just a half hour show. No time to belabour topics as they only have 1.5-2 minutes per topic.

Life is often mostly about timing. Bianca came along when Serena is past her best before date and won two matches against her. Venus Williams is done and it appears Maria Sharapova is also done. Not sure how Bianca would have fared against the William sisters and Sharapova in their prime.

Pete Sampas also was fortunate in his career timing.

Rod Laver won his 1962 Grand Slam when players like Ken Rosewall, Lew Hoad, Andres Gimeno, Pancho Gonzales, etc. were ineligible due to their professional status.

21 year old Jimmy Connors brutalized an aging Ken Rosewall in the 1974 U.S. Open.

In tennis like real estate timing is everything.

P.S. Your pic didn't show her bun. I also have a pic of Genie Bouchard in a similar swimsuit but I can't post it because Tinypic is dead.
Bianca has beaten some good young players who beat some other vets too on her way to the finals...as my friend Ray always say...

Shes not a product of immigration shes a product of feminism that stripped money away. She gave credit to tennis canada the state. Apparently her victory is good advertising for canada brand.

She won a grand slam. Not just a finalist. The US Open. It's not the Rogers Cup. First Canadian woman ever and you're questioning whether she is legit? She put the fear in Serena. Up until then Serena walked over everyone. She was on fire.

Her record this year vs top 10 players no losses. That is no fluke.
Truly impressive!

I wonder if the people who question the amount of buzz and celebration about this are into sports, because it's hard to imagine a legit sports fan not realizing how significant an accomplishment this is.
Does make one wonder...

She is more than a rising star, and deserves on the best. She is fresh and will have to undergo the obligatiory vetting by the media. Hopefully she can stay focused and continue to deliver magic.

I disagree shack, are you American? PTI is a myopic show, Kornheiser is oblivious of anything that happens beyond US borders. Michael Wilbon is cool, he's a Black Hawks fan and participates in Masai's Giants of Africa program. I'll stay with Tim and Sid...and Bianca

The blowhard Steven A Smith said Masai should have left the Raptors, why would he leave? Toronto is the NBA's International beacon.

@nottyboi. You are absolutely 1000 per cent right. She seems a much nicer person and that goes a long way. After three months of being with someone the looks don't matter anymore and nothing worse than being with someone with a bad heart.

I'm sure there are a lot of boys and some young girls that have pulled it or rubbed it out to Bianca and good for them :)

Like I said, if she becomes a mega star like Steffi Graf or Martina awesome. Let's see how her career evolves before we start renaming streets and givi g her keys to the city.
Being the first Canadian to win a SLAM is a HUGE DEAL. It is worth a street and a key to the city. Think of all the thousands of kids that will be inspired to pick up a racquet, get of the couch and get out there. Tennis is a wonderful sport for kids.

That is common to most Americans. They think the US is the center of the universe. By no means do I think that they are the best thing ever. They have no idea what they are talking about whenever they happen to talk about soccer. I also don't like the massive overcoverage of basketball. They also aren't the best in hockey knowledge either. I like their style (they do not take themselves too seriously like SS does), I like their chemistry and I just find them more entertaining to watch. It's fun but not stupid. Having said that, in no way would I begrudge someone liking Tim and Sid more. Just saying why they don't do it for me.

He is a blowhard and has his own show which I do not watch.

@nottyboi. Fully agree. Just like the raptors will get more kids esp minorities to play basketball over ice hockey (the parents prob happy about this as basketball is way cheaper than ice hockey haha) this girl will get kids involved in tennis.

Probably not as many though because tennis is an elitist sport. To become good you have to practise and get coaching and that is not cheap.

I remember years ago Jonathon Powers got a lot of people into squash, another great sport for kids and everyone. But again squash is not cheap.

Please don't think I'm shitting on her for winning. Good for her but we need to see how she progresses. Let's hope she doesn't get hurt or burnout like others. One more thing I think people forget is that Serena williams is old for tennis and she recently became a mother. A lot of athletes once they have a family lose that killer instinct. So the question one has to also is did she beat a Serena Williams at 100%?

Look at Mohammed Ali. By the last couple of fights he had hung around too long and he wasn't as dominant.

I personally would hold off on naming streets and giving keys just yet until we see a real winning trend at the Grand Slams at least.

The only thing that might impede this woman is her health. If she can manage to avoid injuries then I'm confident she'll be a top 10 player for many years to come. Her technique, physicality and mental strength are top notch and she's barely 19. Serena destroyed everyone on the way to the final only to get demolished by Bianca in what was a very hostile environment. As previously mentioned, she's won against every top 10 opponent this year.

Just wondering in which sport can someone become world class without practise? (Aside from Allen Iverson of course.) Who can do it in any sport without top level coaching and they all cost?

If anything, I'd say tennis is one of the least elitist sport. All you need are sneakers, a racket and some balls. There are public courts where anyone can walk on and play for hours and hours for free. It is one of the cheapest sports for kids.

Golf requires expensive equipment and playing a round is not cheap. Hockey equipment, ice time, joining leagues are expensive. IMO, those are a couple of sports that are more elitist than tennis.

Tim and Sid and Bianca.

Bianca rockin a pair of red leather pants, I've focused so much on Bianca the player, Bianca as an attractive girl slipped my mind. Her parents sat in for the interview and she looked totally with it as she described them, "The Two Cool Jackasses". She got the Tim and Sid Gift Basket which included a $20 Gift Card from Square One, a t-shirt withe her face on it for Coco, another for her with Coco picture on it.

Then she lost her poise as Sid walked in carrying the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

Bianca will be in Beijing when the NHL and NBA Seasons start. Any celebrations will have to be held back till November.

Is she throwing out the opening pitch tonight? Or did she do it already and I missed it?
