Had to laugh, earlier today was listening to NPR, (National Public Radio) from the States, and of course, according to them, you know who`s going to win....THE Serena Williams is up against some 19 year old kid from Canada, oh my....Well, whatever the final outcome, you`ve done our country proud by making it this far. She has a very promising future. You go girl!

Canada's Bianca Andreescu is the U.S. Open champion. The Mississauga, Ontario native downed tennis great Serena Williams 6-3, 7-5 to become the first Canadian to ever win a Grand Slam singles title.

SWEET - the Williams sisters have dominated tennis for a long time; they were and still are powerhouses.

She the North - you have done us proud....

Great Job, I'm so proud of her what a sweety only 19 years old. Serene is great, but she looks like Mike Tyson, huge arms and deltoids .

Biology worked against Serena - she's human after all.

She had a child, when she returned most of game was intact, except her lateral movement. That's been permanently compromised after giving birth. Not a chance Simona Halep would have beaten the pre mother Serena on grass at Wimbledon! Bianca knew this and went for the line shots, which Serena returned wide or into the net. Kvitova and Azarenka both had children both are falling in the rankings. Serena's serve and forward movement are what they used to be. Bianca attempted a drop shot, Serena pounced on it like a panther. Serena's best chance of tying Margaret Court's record of 24 Slams is at the French Open.

I googled Margaret Court, getting some interesting results. She won her Slams in a shorter period of time including 10 Australian Opens. Like Serena she won her last Slam in the early stages of pregnancy at the US Open in 1971, she didn't win another after giving birth. To add insult she lost the first Battle of the Sexes to Bobby Riggs - she would have smoked him had she not gotten pregnant. She retired in 1975 after she found out she was pregnant with her second child.

Given her condition, most certainly Serena wasn't faking a back injury. Bianca's a good kid...fuck it's censored, Bianca told her she was a fucking beast.

And all the people that whined that she should not have been "punished" with a low seeding after having the baby because of her inactivity were wrong.

I stand corrupted!

Kim Clijsters won the US Open after having a child. She retired to have more not long after.

I love these underestimating examples. Many people didn’t think she could do it and said everything they could judge off like she is too young, not experienced enough, not cut, kind of chubby, not mature enough etc...

During the game Bianca played very strong and focused and broke down Serena mentally in the 1st set. Serena didn’t expect her to play this strong which also affected Serena mentally and was very weak in the beginning of the 2nd set until the crowd started to pump her back up. Probably the same mentality with Serena underestimating her, and feeding her ego lessons. Serena’s mom and sister also looked bratty and not that supportive and shaking their heads with these arrogant expressions while Biancas side remained chilled and composed and completely in tune to her support needs. I also agree Serena’s lateral game sucked.

I disagree C++ Man.

Serena knew what to expect, Bianca broke her at the Roger's Cup. Venus lost to Bianca in New Zealand she knew what to expect as well. I don't know who their mother is but Venus looked concerned and by the end visibly shaken. Obviously we have different perspectives.

So why was Kim Clijsters able to do it and Serena cannot? The Belgian is younger than Serena, she had her first child when she was 26. At that age the lower abdominal muscles are more plastic, they rebound quicker. The drop off in her ability to pivot side to side was negligible. Serena was approaching her 36th birthday when Olympia was delivered. She had a diabetic gestation and a difficult labour.

Clijsters now runs a tennis academy in Brussels, one of her pupils faced Bianca: the elegant Elise Mertens.

At age 19, Bianca is still a few years away from her physical peak. Unlike swimmers, tennis players could be at or near their peak until their 30's.

Has any player, male or female, climbed over 100 notches in rankings in just one calendar year?

(Bobby Riggs lost to BJ King because he was like 30 years older, was allowed only one serve and had to cover the doubles court. Not exactly a level playing field.)
