Disagree on Browns-Niners. Niners had 2 weeks to realize they aren't that good and the Browns finally realized they are that good. I pick the Browns.

Took KC over Indy in survivor. Don't think I ever made it this far before, hope I didn't put the kiss of death on Andy's crew LOL

Yes I don't think that the 49'ers are as good as their record but Browns don't travel well and they are a very undisciplined group.

Packers are 4-1. :whoo:
They looked good today. Or did Dallas stink.

In the other conference, the Colts defence and running game beat the Chiefs for their first loss.

Redskins fire head coach Jay Gruden after 0-5 start

Wonder if the Raiders could use Jay (?)

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ins-fire-head-coach-jay-gruden-after-05-start

“With a quintet of losses to begin the season and the hopeful future franchise quarterback still without a start, Jay Gruden's tenure leading the Washington Redskins came to its conclusion on Monday.

Following a 33-7 loss to the Patriots, Gruden was fired, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport”

Another exciting Thursday night game, that's two in a row. Wonders never cease. Wow Russell Wilson is putting up some monster #'s this season. Always liked him.

Week 5 matchups

Don't see the Bills getting it done in Nashville without Josh Allen at the helm. Barkley is pitiful. Titans should win a low scoring affair and cover the 3 point spread.

Last week the Steelers got on track, even without JuJu doing much. Diontae Johnson is the new flavor. And finally they decided to use some Jaylen Samuels, one of the best backup RB's the NFL. They will not only cover at home as dogs they will beat Baltimore outright.

The 49'ers are 3-0 and coming off the bye. They are at home on Monday night to the Browns who dig themselves into a hole every time with stupid penalties. SF should easily win and over the 3.5 spread.
2-1 on these best bets. And I erroneously assumed Josh Allen wouldn't play. Also that the Titans had a capable kicker, which they clearly did not on Sunday. I don't think I've ever seen a kicker come up short on a 36 yard FG attempt without it being blocked.

Haven't chimed in in a while was travelling down south. Ate and drank too much as usual.
This week is interesting I'm going to pay particular attention to the Bills Eagles game. Bills have yet to face a team that is over .500 and this is a must win game for the Eagles after getting smacked around the past couple of weeks. Buffalo is a tough place to play no doubt but I'm siding with the road team and the under in this one. Eagles 17 Bills 13

The Cards have quietly gone 3-0 the past 3 weeks playing well on both sides of the ball. They face a 6-1 New Orleans team who have gone 5-0 without their star QB Drew Brees. I think NO wins the game but I'm taking Arizona to cover the 9.5 points. No respect. NO 24 Ariz 20

I think the most obvious choice against the spread this week is Seattle -3.5 @ woeful Atlanta. Falcons will be without their QB Matt Ryan as well. They are a mess. Should get ugly but you never know in this game. Nothing is ever for sure. Seahawks 31 Falcons 17

Finally I gotta go with my Packers on Sunday night @ Chiefs. Really tough place for a visitor and laying 4.5 points on the road seems improbable. But Chiefs without Mahomes and starting the god awful Matt Moore aren't nearly as formidable. Packers are 6-1 and their D has been playing much better than anyone expected. A Rod had 5 TD passes last week he has a chance to do so again this week. I'm going to say he only gets 3 and the Packers romp 34-24.

Belicheck destroys 1st or 2nd year QB's under age of 24. All those wise guys taking the Ravens at +3.5 are bucking the trend. Pats win the game 23-17.

I think my Packers could be in tough this week on the road against the Chargers. 2 injuries on the offensive line and a suspect run defense could keep this one within a FG. Packers pull it out in a squeaker 27-24.

I personally think the Seahawks are the worst 6-2 team I've seen in a while. Yes they have a good running game and potential MVP QB Russell Wilson. But they are only a +12 point differential. I think the Bucs can hang, despite their propensity to beat themselves with costly turnovers. I actually think that they can pull the upset here. Give me the Bucs in a wild one 31-30

Vinatieri is a bum. He hit that kick like I hit my 5-iron, about 4 inches behind the ball.

He will never make it in the NFL.

IMO, trends of teams and matchups are meaningless because over even a 2 year period, there is usually a lot of turnover in rosters and coaching staffs and philosophies. The only trends I ever tracked were the trends of how the oddsmakers do in particular situations. I know that home dogs cover over 50% of the time. Teams that are favoured by more than 10 cover more often than teams favoured between 7 and 10. I know that when AFC plays NFC, AFC covers more often. (My theory is that there are more big markets in the NFC, so there is more sentimental betting going on for those teams which skews the lines.)

Whatever game/team factors that we use to rationalize a pick, the oddsmakers have already taken that into account. We cannot possibly know more than they do. If you can find an oddsmaker trend that gives you even a 52-48% advantage, you probably won't find better. They are that good. I tracked about 12-15 trends of the lines for about 20 years and home dogs were consistently the best bet, but just by 3-4%

As far as tonight's trend of which you speak, I put $30 on the Ravens. I also won with the home dog KC, but fucking Vinatieri cost me the sweep. Colts were actually a sentimental, not analytical, pick. I took them because they are my son's favourite team.
