Doug Ford vows to fine gas stations that don't display anti-carbon tax stickers

But premier says the penalty will be less than $500, not $10K

Premier Doug Ford says gas station owners who don't put his government's anti-carbon tax stickers on their pumps will be fined but won't be handed the maximum penalty available.

Ford says his government will enforce a law passed earlier this year that makes the stickers mandatory, but the fines will be less than $500, not the $10,000 maximum.

The law lets the government send inspectors to see if gas stations are properly displaying the stickers and sets out penalties for non-compliance.

Individuals could be fined up to $500 each day, or up to $1,000 a day for subsequent offences.

Corporations could be fined up to $5,000 a day, or up to $10,000 a day for subsequent offences.

The stickers show the federal carbon tax adding 4.4 cents per litre to the price of gas now, rising to 11 cents a litre in 2022.

Stations have to have the stickers in place by next Friday.

What a stupid waste of money.
I wonder how the legislation is worded.
Can the gas stations get away with displaying the stickers under an opaque cover, for example?

Apparently he has given up on suing the feds over the carbon tax.
Wonder how long before he gives up on this one too.
Makes me want to have some stickers printed up to cover his.

Doug Ford might not go through with his carbon tax court challenge after all:

The blue stickers show the federal carbon tax adding 4.4 cents per litre to the price of gas now, rising to 11 cents a litre in 2022.

The stickers do not mention the federal government's carbon tax rebates. Residents of provinces with the tax will be getting rebates on their income tax returns that start at $128 annually and increase for people with spouses or dependents at home. The federal government says a family of four in Ontario would get $307 this year.

The sticker plan has drawn condemnation from the opposition parties and business groups, and the threat of a legal challenge from the Canadian Civil Liberties Association.

He is behaving like a very erratic clown. Expect more taxpayers money to be poured down the drain with political ads like these, plus High Court Challenges. He has lost the carbon tax battle in the Ontario Courts, and now he is all set to do so in the Supreme Courts if Baby Scheer is not elected as PM. No doubt that he will challenge the Carbon Tax. Really. he should have accepted the Carbon cap and Trade that was in place and seemed to work, rather than repealing it. But his ad should have stated that there are Carbon Tax Rebates in place. A very dishonest ad by him!!

On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, Greece
Ford need's to drop this whole thing and move on.

Canada is what 1 % of the worlds carbon emissions? So what the hell is a carbon tax going to do?

Are people really going to cut back on gasoline? Doesn't matter anyways if China keeps chugging along does it?
