We shipped our manufacturing to Asia. We now allow for the import of most manufactured goods. These goods are often produced using slave labour. China and India will use there natural resources to lift their populations out of poverty and sell our middle class out to cheap consumer goods. When the day comes we will be in no position to compete on anything except the export of used gay pride parade floats. The only other jobs will be cleaning these floats for export. If anyone will take them. Which they won't. The damage done to our economy over the last 40 years will guarantee us a trip to the Third World. Nobody reading this nor your children will share in any Canadian prosperity as it would take leadership, brains, and hard work to repair the damage. And if we did start today. It would take twenty years to turn it around.

What? Were we not told that negative interest rates would solve all of our problems and bring untold progress?

China only uses slightly more coal per person than USA, and India uses much less per person than USA.

But don't worry, trump is going to bring Coal back.
But with GDP being a fraction per person this shows incredible inefficiency.

That is irrelevant.

Why should Americans create more CO2, just because they create more videogames and cellphones for teenagers to fiddle with?

I think the map makes its point elegantly. If you are concerned about climate change, the world needs to find a way to work with China and India in reducing their reliance on coal.

We always get someone explaining the deeper meaning. In this case, it just distracts from the simple message.

A step in the right direction.

Isn't it interesting that in the race to riches of capitalism, the guys way out in the lead want to take a breather and do nothing, because some who started late are struggling to catch up.

Don't I remember a story like that from long ago? Seems to me it didn't end well for the leader.
It is just part of the plan to keep the newcomers down.

The world has found a way to deal with India and China, It is called the Paris Agreement.

The only major country that does not want the Paris Agreement is USA, who wants to increase the use of Coal.

The Paris Agreement is as useless as Kyoto. China and India have no short term commitments in that agreement. The signatures are not meeting their obligations. The US is decreasing it’s emissions.

Paris is better than nothing.

Fortunately solar and wind are now cheaper than coal so fewer coal plants are being built, but what with the Amazon and Arctic burning these days you'd think people would be more concerned.

Wind and solar are irrelevant, sadly.

China and India are not concerned.
