Agriculture? You want to talk about agriculture?

I think farmers have been complaining most of my adult life about commodity prices. I can't discern a huge difference in current prices from 2016. The Chinese promised to buy U.S. agriculture products to alleviate trade conflict. The Chinese know full well that if they hold out that carrot and yank it back some farmers are going to buy into the Chinese trade story. The Chinese have been in and out of U.S. commodity market for decades. In the past, they would buy a whole lot of a commodity, hoard it and the watch overcapacity fuck up the market.

Incidentally, I just read an article about how soon the world won't be able to feed itself. I bet I don't have to look hard to find that same media outlet has an article on the low agriculture prices.
Your blinders are working.

Agricultural producers reported they were not able to plant crops on more than 19.4 million acres in 2019. Chinese companies have halted purchases of US agricultural products

John Deere is not selling equipment, farm defaults are way up, as are suicides.

The problem is the downward pressure on farm prices pre-existed the trade war with China by several years. I don't rely on media narratives when I can get objective information with a quick search. Based on your background, you should appreciate empirical data.

For the last five years, farms have been receiving less for their output. Prices paid for inputs have stayed high.

You rely on your beliefs and your agenda instead of trying to comprehend my post.
I did not mention Trump in my post, so why argue that it is not all his fault, or the trade wars fault.
I actually listed, as the PRIMARY reason, the loss of acerage for planting in 2019. But I guess that did not fit in your agenda of defending Trump at all cost.

Of course, the decline in China's purchaces of agricultural products from USA is another blow to American farmers.

Your insistence on MEDIA agenda is getting a bit tiresome. Is flooding in the Mid West of USA a media narrative?

CBC's As It Happens interview with a Danish opposition MP suggested Trump had actually requested the now-cancelled visit, and the government had hustled to get him a quick official invitation from their Royals. But he couldn't resist blabbing his Latest Greatest Idea to the Twitterverse before telling the Danes — or even his own State Department — and then rudely stood up his hosts, when the Danish PM tried to pass off his gaffe as a weak attempt at humour.

The rudeness we expect, but who knew he was Mr. Sensitive about his 'strategic visions'?

So you think that Canada somehow makes people less incredible when they move here. LOL

Actually, the average intelligence of both Canada and Denmark increased when I moved to Canada.
You really think Danes are so much smarter than Canadians? And you are at the lower rung of Dane intelligence?

I believe that is what I wrote. Proves how smart I am, right?

Don't worry about what the chosen one says. Pompeo/Bolton will set the record straight:

Pompeo praises ‘US ally’ Denmark after Trump cancels visit
22 August 2019

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has praised Denmark amid a public row over Greenland that saw President Donald Trump cancel a visit to the country.

In a phone call with Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod, Mr Pompeo "expressed appreciation for Denmark's co-operation" as a US ally.

Mr Kofod welcomed the "frank, friendly and constructive talk".

It came after Mr Trump said Denmark's prime minister had been "nasty" when rebuffing his idea of buying Greenland.

Mette Frederiksen had called his ambitions of buying the autonomous Danish territory "absurd". She said she was "disappointed and surprised" that he had cancelled his visit.

The trip was scheduled to take place on 2 September, at the invitation of Denmark's Queen Margrethe II.

The US State Department said Mr Pompeo and Mr Kofod had a friendly phone call on Wednesday about the "postponement" of the president's trip.

"The secretary expressed appreciation for Denmark's co-operation as one of the United States' allies and Denmark's contributions to address shared global security priorities," spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said in a statement. "The secretary and Foreign Minister Kofod also discussed strengthening co-operation with the Kingdom of Denmark - including Greenland - in the Arctic."

I would embrace that Social Democracy for quite a few nights.

Can you think of a hotter leader ever? First wives maybe, but leader.

Too bad she wasn't a Conservative. What is a Conservative in Denmark anyway?

Strange but true the most conservative party in Denmark is called "The Left". There is also a moderate conservative party called "The Conservatives"

I apologize to you danmand. You did not bring up Trump. I don't believe you have ever blamed Trump for the suffering farm sector.

This thread does have Trump in its title. The Trump trade war hurting the farm sector story is a real thing. It is repeated here and elsewhere often.

I just know from following markets we have been in a structural shift in ag prices for several years. I'm not exactly sure what the Chinese impact is on the U.S. market vis-à-vis the entire global market. The Chinese can hold out buying U.S. ag products as a carrot, but I think its a devil's bargain.
