Why is Israel not expected to comply with UN Resolution 242?

That’s the UN Resolution telling the Israelis to give back the land they seized in 1967. Until Israel gets with the fucking program why should anyone support them (other than trying to win the Jewish vote in Florida, of course)?

You left out the part about of the Palestinian Hamas members constantly firing rockets at Israel and swearing to wipe Israel off the map.

That’s because the Israelis won’t get off the fucking land like they’ve been told to by the UN.

WTF did the Israelis expect? Did they think the Palestinians would just quietly disappear and say, “OK...That’s fine. Steal all of our land. Take our shit. No problem...We’ll just spend the rest of our lives as refugees; it’s all good.”

I get why the Israelis are concerned about their security but what they are doing to the Palestinian People is wrong and I don’t support it. You would think that of all nations the Israelis would have some empathy for what it’s like to be persecuted...and I’m sure they do...but you’d never know it based on the behaviour of the State of Israel.

Well, Israel is occupying their country.
(though Hamas rockets are war crimes because they are homemade tin can things that can't only be aimed at military targets, so they shouldn't fire them)

You also left out the part about Israel constantly firing rockets at Palestinians, not to mention the Friday afternoon, weekly shooting of civilian protesters.
300 killed so far, about 14,000 injured.
67 injured on yesterday's weekly shooting

They’ve been building up a network of settlements in the West Bank (ex Jordan) and zoning out Arabs in East Jerusalem playing a stalling game why they create a reality on the ground that will make a two state solution impossible.

Frank wants to destroy us, but before he figures out how to do that he would like to work out an agreement. :ambivalence:

Except that obviously Frank is NOT going to destroy you because you have already kicked the shit out of him and have refused to take your foot off his throat for the past 50+ years. When you are the victor, the responsibility is with you to rebuild the peace with your enemies in a way that meets all of your needs. If you don’t, you are going to have a problem that is entirely your own fault.

And then they complain when the Palestinians launch rocket attacks on their settlements. Those “settlers” know perfectly well what they are doing when they move into those areas...they are laying claim to land that is not theirs and are willing to martyr themselves and their families for the State of Israel. Well...ok then...they made their choice. Stop whining when shit happens.

Of course the rockets are not fired at the settlements but at the Israel proper, so there goes that theory. And they're not being fired from the occupied territories, but from Gaza, so there's that. It's time to ship the Palestinian Arabs back to the desert and maybe sell Gaza to the Hong Kong Chinese. At least they would know that to do with it.

Brilliant. Just keep dialling up the oppression...It’s worked so well thus far.

Maybe the Israelis could just put them all in camps and start pumping in Zyclon B.

Gaza is still considered occupied territory, though it is in reality either an open air prison or concentration camp, with guards on the walls who shoot those who get too close, total control over what goes in and out, 4-6 hours of electricity, no drinkable water and only the bare amount of food and resources allowed in. The people of Gaza have been protesting for basic human rights for over a year now every Friday, while Israel has now killed 300 civilian protesters and injured over 14,000 people by sniper fire across the prison wall.

The West Bank also is occupied, now over 50 years. Israel continues to tear down Palestinian houses and take more land for 'settlements', in the land that should have been the two state solution. There is now not enough continguous land left to create a Palestinian state with the illegal settlements in place, leaving Israel as defacto apartheid.

I argue for the end of violence through the application of equal rights for all under their rule. People like basketcase associate equal rights with genocide.
And now the white supremacist core of Trump supporters think Israel is a model for racist rule of the US.

You know what, as a Jew, I lament about when the Arab-Jewish subject comes up? The complete loss of reasoning and the return to the most basic human emotions, like hate. Along the line of your(not very original) comment. I was the biggest fun of the Israel's withdrawal from Gaza. I thought that the Arabs would use the self government and world's good will to build the civil society that would lead to a land for peace deal and the end of the conflict. That's not what happened. The Arabs took the withdrawal as a sign of weakness and opted for Hamas to lead them in the armed struggle. Exactly the same thing will happen if Israel ever ends the oversight of the territories. There's no doubt about that. Rockets, mortars, IEDs from Jericho or Bethlehem or East Jerusalem will become the daily staple on top of the bombardment from Gaza. And the World will just stand and watch Jews dying, as always. And the guys like you and Franky will keep posting from the safety of your couches reminding us how the Jews deserve it for not upholding some UN resolution in particular and being Jews in general.

Well then you better just exterminate them all then. Apparently that’s your only hope.

FYI, I am not a Jew. I don't agree with Jewish settlements in the West Bank. They certainly at times look like the aggressor. However, I think many Palestinians have chosen a path of perpetual war.

My head would explode trying to find right and wrong, black and white in this conflict.

We have many complications. The World Order meddles in the affairs of both parties giving hope to both sides that they can achieve propaganda victories. We're all tools in this game. Most importantly, Arabs don't have a strong history of capitulation suing for and preserving the peace. Israel's Arab neighbors are held to peace by Israeli military strength.

You're statement that victors have the responsibility for rebuilding the peace is true. Victors also usually force capitulation before peace can be pursued. I don't believe the Palestinians have capitulated. I also don't believe they want a lasting peace.
