Not as successful as his father, but Easy rider was iconic. Great soundtrack and great Choppers.

Actor Peter Fonda, who co-wrote and starred in the seminal 1960s counterculture film "Easy Rider," has died. He was 79.

In a statement obtained by Fox News, Fonda's family said that the actor -- the son of Henry Fonda and the younger brother of Jane Fonda -- died Friday morning at his Los Angeles home after suffering respiratory failure due to lung cancer.

That is an impossible legacy to live up to, not even Jane can make that claim.

Ironically Easy Rider may not have been made if it wasn't for Sergio Leone and his "mystery actor". Audiences gasped when they found out who Killer Joe was.

Peter did have a respectable career with some memorable roles. The remake was better than the original.

Too bad.
Easy Rider, one of my all time favorite movies.
Hope he didn't suffer too much in the end.

Is Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry available for streaming anywhere? Very under-rated film.

This film inspired George Miller to make Mad Max.

I watched that movie a couple of years ago...I bought it on iTunes.

It’s a B-movie that has some pretty crude, misogynistic language in it by today’s standard. The movie itself woulda been the kinda thing you’d see as the third feature at a Drive In. It’s still kinda cool, tho...Peter Fonda has a strong screen presence.

I was too young to see Easy Rider when it was first released but saw it later. Now both Dennis Hopper and Peter have ridden off into the sunset on their motorcycles.

BTW: Brigitte Fonda is Peter's daughter.

Kathleen didn't know you were a Dodge aficionado, welcome to the club.

One item that Peter and Henry had in common is making films representative of their generations. Peter with Easy Rider and Henry as Tom Joad in The Grapes of Wrath. Director John Ford made a classic film out of John Steinbeck's novel, but he left out the last fifth of the book. Who knows a director like William Wyler (Ben Hur) may have attempted it.

The Fonda's have an interesting heritage.

The family origin began in the Italian city of Ferrara, they immigrated to Holland to escape the barbarities of The Inquisition. Eventually the made their way to the USA and settled in Nebraska. His father established the W.B Fonda printing company in Omaha, his mother encouraged his artistic potential.

He became perhaps the very best American character actor, who could play just about anything. And he was strong enough to not look out of place going toe to toe with the legendary John Wayne. Who was one of his closest friends, The Duke was The Godfather of Jane Fonda.

....with Ward Bond, Victor McLaglen and the teenaged Shirley Temple.

Indeed, and Mopar really :)

In the movie Bullitt, I liked the 68 Charger over the 68 Mustang...lol

One of my absolute favorites though, is the 1971 Cuda from the horror movie Phantasm.
Uuugh I loved that Car.
Brings back those old classics.

Goldfinger introduced me to the Aston Martin DB5........Such stealth.

But the 68 Mustang from Bullit still shivers me timbers
